So YouTube have launched there paid service in the US. You get quite a bit included for the $9.99 s month to be fair and it also includes a Google Play Music.

info

So when this inevitably comes to the UK who will sign up?

And on the other hand...

Google will remove videos from content creators who don't sign up to the program...

YouTube made its top video creators an offer they literally couldn’t refuse, or they’d have their content disappear. Today YouTube confirmed that any “partner” creator who earns a cut of ad revenue but doesn’t agree to sign its revenue share deal for its new YouTube Red $9.99 ad-free subscription will have their videos hidden from public view on both the ad-supported and ad-free tiers. That includes videos by popular comedians, musicians, game commentators, and DIY instructors, though not the average person that uploads clips.

I vaguely remember there being another service to do with red and tube :D.

I might consider it. Have to see if there will be a trial first.

Google strong arming another area isn't really a new thing.

Might be ok. I bet it wont be £6.49 though, or even £9.99 if it includes Google Music, as that itself is £9.99 a month.

Wait, what so if you make a little money on the side from adverts on your videos, then you have to pay $9.99 a month otherwise they will hide your videos .

So now Google are earning money from the subscription payments and from the advertising on your video?

So it this just a big screw you to the people who are earning a little from YouTube videos (I'm talking not even £10 a month)?

Sounds to much like my most visited site redtube.
And why pay. Add blocker or just watch a few seconds of adds.

Loads of third party apps have no adverts and can download videos anyway.

I was about to say how ridiculous this was, but then I realised I probably watch way more YouTube than BBC and the adverts on YouTube are ridiculous.

Let's be honest here, 90% of us will all have found a way to circumvent all this nonsense and continue getting everything for free anyway.

And how long before stuff starts becoming exclusive to YouTube Red? When they realize nobody is paying for it?

Ouch. I guess I was ignorant to think it would £5/10 for us :(.

Those aren't actual facts btw, just my prediction on what they will charge us over here. We're usually around £5+ more than what the rest of the world gets things for, so I put 2 and 2 together.

Change that sad face man! I may (probably) be horribly wrong, but guarantee we will be paying more
