Doesn't really look like it to me. Anyway, it reminds me of the tale that the UK police once got some historical re-enactors in to play the opposition for riot training. And the police got their arses kicked. The re-enactors used standard Roman-era tactics, but the police were clueless as to tactics like how to properly manage a shield wall.
I think they both had a good singing voice, just very different. The intro in the video you quoted demonstrated very well that Michelle Phillips had a lovely singing voice. They also sung well together (which is also a sign of how good Cass Elliot was because she could easily have overpowered Michelle Phillips).
Here's my favourite video of masterful singing in the feminine pitch range. Diana Damrau totally nailed it. Over-acted of course, but the singing is perfect. Imperious fury. In this scene, she's commanding her daughter to go stab a guy to death.
