Z4MC for under 20k

are you sure? this is the M version not the regular, so insp 2 is about £600 if it anything like an E46 M3, ditto warranty. The M's have higher warranty cost.

and a £25 MOT is also pretty optimistic! you must know a cheap place.
In all honesty I don't know for sure, first hand, about the servicing. I've never had reason to ring for a quote. A 'guy at work said so though' :p. Paying any morethank £25 for an MOT is daft at the moment. Main dealers are offering them in droves it seems. Warranty price was from a quick interweb reasearch earlier today.

Inspection 2 should be nearer to £400 than £600 and MOT shouldn't be any more than £25. Warranty for a year is going to be under £600.

Good luck in finding a BMW main dealer that will provide an Inspection 2 on an ///M for £400. And if you do find one then please let me know.

Also I'm guessing you get your warranty price from a 3rd party provider or lesser cover than BMW's best product. I think I would rather either run one with BMW's finest or none at all and put the money in the bank, rather than skimp on a warranty.

Out of curiosity, how much would one of these have cost new? I'm just struggling to see the bargain at the moment because I have nothing to compare the current sale price against.

That one in the OP with the options listed will have been a few quid shy of £50K

Better handing because they are more rigid. The coupe is also rarer than the roadster.

Coupes are only available in 3.0 ltr and M spec and production of the coupe didn't start till 2006.

As has been said, the ZMR also started production in 2006 and ran for a couple of years like all coupes. Somewhere on z4-forum there is a list of production figures and from memory in ///M form there are actually fewer roadster I think. However there are of course a lot more drop tops than coupes in general if you ignore model designation and this makes the coupe more attractive from a rarity point of view.

Coupe = fail
Red = fail

Why have a car like that with no drop-top...

imho of course.

I'm sorry, each to their own and all that but I just can't agree with that :p

I'm not a fan of the roadsters looks really, nice when the hood is down but not a fan of it when up. The coupe however looks fantastic, much more agressive and macho plus the rarity factor ;)

The only decision is whether to go for the M or not, even with the dropping prices I'm still probably gonna go for the normal coupe and get 95% of the usable performance on the road, get one with less miles and pocket £5k.

...but it is soooo tempting ! :cool:

that red actually looks cared for

the one in the advert looks very flat and dull. Nothing a machine polish wouldnt sort however.

Erm, no on both counts.

It's a Z4M not a Z4. It's also reasonably new and high value so it would be silly to service it anywhere but BMW. Even at Cotswold BMW who do very competitive M Power servicing you are looking at circa £700 for an Inspection II. BMW warranty renewal for Comprehensive on an M Power is also going be more than £600 not under £600.

I'm a bit confused as to where your figures have come from really?

As I said earlier in the thread, the servicing figures are from a guy at work so I accept that they could be garbage. The guy I was quoting didn't say anything about the warranty being BMW and my figure for that is from a 3rd party warranty company and specifically states coverage for M cars, unlike WD who, as far as I could tell, don't cover M cars.

I've never seen that before. I suspect either something to do with the snowboard rack mentioned in the advert like some sort of anchorage point or else some very poor aftermarket rear parking sensors.

Such a good looking wheel the CSL design, even works on the new Z4 to my eyes.

It's basically a BBS RX though isn't it? :p

My guess'd be the rack, seeing as its mentioned.

Doesn't look like parking sensors, even cheap ones!

Definately get a test drive based on the comments in this thread!

It would be a very foolish person who purchases a Z4M, or indeed any car, before taking a test drive.

To be honest the person in that thread seems like they would be disillusioned with all sports cars, but there are some quirks of the M that seem universal and you can either get on with it or not. I used to drive a CL500, which was the ultimate in a smooth ride, and while the Z4M is indeed harsher it is not unbearable and not much worse than similar cars I've owned like my old Boxster. In fact, because of the lack of run flats as standard I found it considerably better riding than the 3.0 I once test drove.

The first to second gear change can be a little "notchy" but if it bothers you then I believe removal of the clutch delay valve can improve this. And as for running, fuel and servicing costs the chap complains about, well that's not exclusive to the Z4M, any car with a similar amount of performance would be the same.
