Z68AP-D3 2500k overclock?

I also have my ram running at 1600 which is the correct speed for my ram, ignore the CPU temp, I have Dead Space running:

never mind found it

??

BTW did you get yours backup and running @ 4.4ghz?

@Voorhees1979, Very much appreciated your help, now got rig running @ 4.3ghz using turbo multi settings. Tried 4.4 & 4.5 but would not post, added up to 0.100 in dynamic vcore but still didn't boot, maybe something to do with other setting or using 16gig of ram.
Anyway got it running @4.3 with -0.060 (yes minus) setting in dynamic vcore. Got Prime95 running at the moment, In Touch Bio's temps @ 58c and vcore 1.25V. In CPUID temps are about 65c.

Thanks

yer its back up and running now whats the best way to check the temp and core voltage, cpu-z with prime 95?

btw why are you changing vcore? i got mine running fine by just putting 44,44,44,44

I use a win 7 widget with coretemp on my second screen to keep tabs on temps 24/7, temps look high but I just did an alt-tab from gaming:

@cjenks22 did it overclock ok then? Also you should always change the vcore, try to get it as low as possible. Also some chips need more voltage to overclock, no chip is the same.

@FiXiT glad you got your overclock going, I am sure it will do more, just finding the time to sit and mess around with those settings lol took me ages.

yer seems to be running fine just need to keep an eye on the temps btw how do i change the v-core

OcUK machine so I am guessing it has some huge air cooler on it :) If its stable you should try for 4.6 :) Under normal gaming you should get around 50-60c. Prime etc will make it run a lot hotter but you wont get that in normal use.

I'm using Hardware Monitor by CPUID to check temps, shows temps of each core, also got Touch Bois by Gigabyte running which shows Vcore voltage and temps.Tried 44 44 44 44 but would not boot even when giving it some extra volts using dynamic vcore.Tried 43 and left dynamic vcore on auto but still didn't boot, set dynamic vcore to +0.000 and it booted which is strange, decided to to take the dynamic vcore setting into the minus which I believe lowers the auto vcore setting, could not go below -0.060 without getting Blue screen.

just checked my settings under bios

advanced voltage settings ---- dynamic vcore (dvid) +0.0.50v

cpu temp 27 oc
vcore 1.380
Dram 1.548v

does this look ok?

I would like to see that vcore down a little bit. You won't damage the chip and that voltage is within the intel guidelines. But the more voltage the hotter the chip runs. So yes you are OK with that voltage, but the chip will run cooler if you could try to get it down a tad. The only way to do that is mess with the dynamic vcore settings.

Install touch bios and run it and see what the vcore is within windows itself. With touch bios you can change all the bios settings within windows.

Which Vcore reading would you trust the One in the Bio's at start-up or the reading in windows touch bio's.

@cjenks22 If your dynamic vcore (dvid) is set @ +0.0.50v you must no have lost all your setting other wise I would have thought this would have been on auto. Would be interested to know what your other setting are that OcUK set-up for you. Like Voorhees said I bet you could lower your dynamic vcore setting to get your total vcore volts down.

yer i know all the settings are still there but when i press f12 under bios it just says default there is no ocuk profile there its very strange

The reading will be exactly the same as touch bios just reads what the bios says. I am no expert overclocker but I feel in the bios the PC is under no stress at all. So I like it to be in windows with a little bit of stress to tell me the voltage.

@cjenks22 At this stage I helped get the overclock back, but when it comes to the voltage settings it is something you just have to play with, I see your DVID is +0.050 did you set that? go back a page in this thread and set yours the same as mine or even on auto, see if that drops the voltage a bit.

But at this stage I am afraid it is good luck m8, you just need to play with that setting until the machine is stable at the lowest possible voltage. Fun and games of overclocking.

Thanks cjenks22, couple of your setting are different to mine, so I'll alter some of mine sometime to see if I can get a high clock speed.
