Thats probably closer than you think![]()
Currys have been rumoured to be in trouble for a while now
Hope none of you get Zavvi store vouchers for christmas! And if you do, BUY BUY BUY.
I got the Friends series 1-10 boxset from Zavvi for £40 recently, absolute bargain considering its usually around £100
We should open a book on who's next of the big retailers to fall; HMV, DSG, WH-Smith etc
I'm buying shares in Ernst & Young, they've never been so busy.
£40 is the cheapest i've seen it. I've been looking at the box set and it can be had for £50 in most places. I really want the Sopranos Deluxe box set its £88-£100 i'm now hoping Zavvi flock it off cheap that's be nice.
Irrelevant.. planning to open a large retail store takes a lot of time. This would have been started well before this 'downturn' became more obvious.
I know this is a very small percentage of takings, but the Asda store I worked at while at uni will be taking ~£1m a week at the moment.
Plus Asda are creeping up on other supermarkets, increasing profits etc etc.

Glad I bought an HMV gift card the other day and not a Zavvi one...
Maybe Richard Brandson saw the writing on the wall last year and got shot of the business?
I expect to see the carpet sellers struggle, Allied Carpets, Carpetright. Also DIY, maybe Wicks or Focus. And furniture retailers like DFS, Courts.
I've never understood how there are so many ladies clothes shops like Monsoon, Warehouse etc. Surely they can't all survive. Not exactly retailers but surely we've got to lose some Estate Agents.
Courts went ages ago didn't they?
Thanks for the finanical advice, but i was of course joking. You must be an accountant, or perhaps a tax inspector.
