I've still got Ocarina of Time and Paper Mario sitting on my Wii waiting to be played, along with Metroid Prime 2 and of course Twighlight Princess.
So many games and such little time!
I just went back and finished Twilight Princess. Oddly enough GC Paper Mario is on my floor next to my Wii waiting to be replayed and actually finished, and Im just playing Metroid Prime 2 now! Seems Im not the only one.
Twilight Princess I think having finally completed it (45Hrs roughly, and never collected all the hearts etc) (damned getting sidetracked by other things), is a very well made, enchanting little game, that rates as my best game of 2006. I look forward to the next Zelda game, which is being designed for the Wii, rather than for the GC and ported, I mean for a GC designed game, the graphics and art direction on TP were gobsmacking in some areas, sharper, more detailed graphics (cannot wait til Zelda one day goes HD) designed for the improved power of the Wii should look gorgeous. Zelda: TP is really one of those games that to me sums up just how important art style, direction and effort are in making a game look, if this game had been released in HD, with the improved textures to go with the improved resolutions, I really think this game could give most games out now a shot on the graphical front.
As mentioned before though, if starting to play your first Zelda, I'd actually recommend going to play some of the back catalogue first, as theres so many little nudges, hint, nods to and referances towards other games in the series through the enemies, settings, musical score etc, that you probably wont appreciate it as much as you could until you play some of the others, then play this, and let some of the touches just fill you with nostalgia and memories, and in the musical sense, enjoy the improvements and refinements made!
Also to the person talking about Wind Waker, yes its definately worth playing. OK, its not the best Zelda ever, its certainly a very fun, charming little game, if you can look past the cell shading and its flaws (a lot of sailing).
