Zen performing better than expected. Greater than 40% improvement.

Pretty sure availability will be late Q3. It is late (they wanted early '16), but I wouldn't expect it to get any later now that Samsung are in the picture.

I attribute the relatively small gains since the original Core i7's and the brilliant 9xx series on the poor competition from AMD.

If nothing else, a competitive AMD will help push Intel to deliver meaningful performance advancements (and perhaps stop disabling features across it's range, just to confuse everyone). And everyone should be grateful for that!

Sadly I'm not very sure if it'll make any difference - Intel's R&D budget is about $11.5bn - or more than twice AMD's entire revenue ($5.5bn).

I think there might be the possibility of seeing some engineering samples or an incredibly limited retail release in November/December, though I doubt we'll see any significant volume until well into 2017. That's assuming no delays.

Either way, we should hear any day now that it's been taped out - AMD need all the investor confidence they can get, we can be 100% sure they will officially say when it's taped out.

It says to me release in 2016 and starting portfolio of revenue in 2017. You're quoting from the investors conference and thats the issue.
