Zune or iPod?

Ok i have a zune 30 got it as soon as i could in the UK
im gonna turn it on will post results lol.

My zune has not crashed ones and is more reliable than my ipod touch and suffle by miles.

You might wanted to have saved that last sentence until after you've turned it on today :D

I have a 160GB iPod classic and am very happy with it. Mate showed the Zune, albeit the older version and the interface seemed very clunky and none of the media centre style transistoons were smooth, hence why I didnt bother with it.

Gah. what is all this rubbish about iPods going out of date, or being badly built. Had mine 2 years now and its still fine.

They're cased in metal ffs, what are you doing to them, driving on them? Dropping them out your car window on the motorway?

I normally hate Apple too, but in the case of the iPod, it just works. Well, once you ditch bloody stupid iTunes, and use Floola instead that is.

Never tried a Zune mind you, but never needed to. My iPod hasn't bricked itself yet... :p I'll have a look into them when it does eventually die, but I get the feeling that I'll just be used to the iPod controls and it'll feel odd.

Well heres my results :(
Ive tried everything as you can see

The more 30gb+ players there are on the market, the better IMO. The iPod touch is a great player, but £250-300 is too much in my book.

Let's hope M$ fixes this, or there's some obscure fix like with the Xbox.

Ouch I sense a large bill heading Creative (do they make the Zune) soon, perhaps we should add them to the "Next company to go into administration" thread?

They do. They don't get firmware upgrades with features from new iPods, the Zune does.

So?

It still works! What do you need to keep updating the firmware for anyway?

No, because Microsoft makes then. :p

Like many, I resisted ipods for a few years until Last December when I got a Classic.

Now I have a Touch, an iPhone and the Classic, I love it. I don't see why people hate it, the thing works brilliantly, battery last ages, UI is awesome, the screen is great and I can watch stuff, surf the net, check emails, play games and it all fit in my shirt pocket.

I have to say, not an Apple fan per se but I've got an old 40 gig iPod which is almost 5 now and it's still working just fine. Even the battery's still got mileage in it!

I have nothing specifically against Apple, its just that they over price their products, and just win customers over with gimmicks, aka iphone, which even with the 3G version still has less features than most phones of a similar price.

My old 20gb 3rd gen iPod is still going strong, btw.
P.S. 'apparently synchronized faceplantings' :D

I've never owned one, because i'm sensible, however members of my family have, and many of my friends, and there are few good experiences to share between them. I wouldn't simply make an unfounded comment.

PS: I'm glad yours is still working!

I'm not an Apple fan boy but I've got to admit asthetically they are very very nice products to look at which is why they command a premium. Apple obviously now that a lot of people are willing to pay a little extra for what are luxary goods because they're sexh. It's a bit like getting a sofa, you can get a bog standard one that'll "have all the features" of a more expensive one, but you pay for looks.

And there's nothing wrong with people admitting that. For some reason lots of Apple bods like to think "I buy Apple products because they are the best" as opposed to admitting "I buy Apple products because they're good and nice to look at".
