IF I use eco mode then my max temp in Cinebench R23 is 74 °C, Maybe I will change the paste it on the weekend.

hi did you see any noticable improvement swapping to an x3d. thinking about doing it myself
What specs do you have? What resolution do you game at? What games do you play?

on my sons system in the sig, i noticed a massive difference in games that are CPU bound, but also a good fps boost on others
Battlefield there was a good 30FPS uplift thats a none cpu bound game
Squads is a very CPU bound game, it went from around 80fps to 150fps

The difference at 1080 will be more noticeable than 1440 but when i upgraded from a 5800x to an 5800x3d about 12 months ago at 1440 i noticed a bump in FPS but its all dopnt to the game in question.
i lot of sits say and average at 10% but games like Squads and starfield get a much bigger bump as there horribly CPU optimized.

Looking around, I decided to purchase the Thermalright Phantom Spirit which is the successor to the Peerless Assasin.
Couldn't say no at £30 considering it outperforms the Noctua NH-D15 in certain scenarios!
Managed to sell my 5800X and the cooler for £130 so all in all the whole upgrade cost me £130 which I'm very happy about!

When I do do pancake it's at 1440p and it's only Squad 44. But mostly I play DCS in vr with the q3.

I also recently upgraded from the 5800x to 5800x3d and feel it was a worthy upgrade.
Primarily because of the uplift in VR.
My mediocre MSI B450 Mortar (non max) has seen a Ryzen 2600, 3600, 5800x and now the 5800x3d. AM4 has been a great platform!

7800x3d is much faster. Even changing to 5800x3d would be a big gain.But if somebody is already on AM4 platform not worth that extra 10-15% the extra cost, to by new motherboard/Ram/CPU.Just go ahead and do it

Looking at the benches, the 3900XT is significantly faster in productivity with its extra cores. What sort of real-world areas would I notice that? I use Photoshop occasionally if that counts.
Think it might be worth waiting for the 5800x3d to come down in price a little? £270-280 is a touch steep!

Or maybe try the 5700x3d its cheaper but just 5-10% slower.
Unless you do rendering than you wont notice the extra cores - most consumer software is still stuck on single core performance(excel/word etc)
280 for 5800x3d is too much now, seen it new for 250 not so long ago.
