Leaker claims next gen cards faster than last gen

Amazing insight!

But even that I struggle to believe if these cards are meant to be mid range ones as rumoured.

Only way that works out is if amd made big changes. Would love to see it, but I stopped expecting anything from them a while ago.

At GDC Jensen said the two dies talk to each other like there is only one. Probably MCM design becomes doable.

New rumors have emerged concerning the possible RTX 5080 graphics card, with Twitter / X tech leaker AGF stating that “GB203 is close to AD102 in raster and faster in RT.” GB203 is the GPU die that will likely power the RTX 5080, which means that according to the report from PCGamesN, 5080 will be “even faster at processing realistic ray-traced lighting in games” than the 4090, though it’ll be about the same speed in terms of standard rasterization.

The leaker revealed more information about whether the overall performance for the 5080 would be better than the 4090. They stated that it “will depend on AMD competitiveness,” and that it’s “too early to say.” It also said that the top three Blackwell gaming cards would feature GDDR7 RAM, including the RTX 5080, which means you could expect some high-speed memory from those cards.

Hopefully it's not subjected to sub 20GB of VRAM....

So don't get your hopes up then

I've said a few times now, I don't care for raster (obviously still important, just not as important going forward), RT is the future and what I care about now. I won't be surprised if it is less than 24gb vram, probably 16-20gb which is plenty especially since the latest games are much better optimised on vram front now, even some of the newest ue 5 titles are extremely optimised here compared to the first lot of games we seen and I imagine it will only get better as devs figure it out along with new tech to help in a number of areas.

5080 for <£1000 and I'll be happy, obviously would love to see it for £700-800 but we all know that isn't going to happen unless amd substantially undercut nvidia, which they most likely won't either, maybe intel will save the day.....

It references the 4080 though not the 4080 Super, so is unlikely to be under £1000 :p

I'll be surprised if it is priced at £1300 or higher given how poorly the 4080 sold and the 4080s has sold better I think.

Think I done this before in the thread but my estimate on pricing:

5090 - £1600+
5080 (as per above perf. estimates) - £1000
5070 (matching 4080 perf) - £700/800

But the leak suggests it has better RT performance than the 4090, and Nvidia are now confirmed to be greatly controlling stock of 40 series, come 50 series launch if you can't buy a cheaper new 40 90, but want 4090 RT performance, then your only option is a >£1000 5080. So whilst it probably won't be 4090 price, it will still be in the high 4 figures most likely from how I'm reading the leaks.

Which then once again puts the xx90 card as a halo model costing way more than the rest of the series (£2k+ this time round).

If the 5080 is a 4090 equivalent for all bar RT, I’m out.

Was contemplating a ##80 instead of a ##90 this time around but that’d be pointless if that’s the case.

Thought they said no MCM until the 6### series.

It will sell very well, if the 5090 is in the £2000+ tier.

Doubt it, look at the 4080.... Main reason people went for the 4090 over it was because it was only an extra what £250/300 yet the performance difference was/is huge. If the 4090 was an extra £500+, I don't think many would have paid that much more.....

Well yeah, it definetly won't be less than £1k, that's pretty much a certain but I'll be amazed if they price it at £1300 again given how poorly the 4080 was recieved and hence why we got a 4080s for <£1k.... Unless they have something else in line of a software feature or vastly better FG to justify the 5080 costing high £1xxx again.....

I'm most curious to see what the 90 model will be like though as the 4090 sold very well due to how good it is and arguably the price to performance you got in the grand scheme of things.

4090 sold very well because nothing could touch it, even today nothing touches it so if someone wants the best, there's only one option :p

If the 5080 matches the 4090 for RT, but gets close in raster then that now brings 2 top tier cards and the 5090 won't be the only option available to people if they want top tier performance any more. Nvidia will have drawn this strategy up as a money maker and Jensen lit the flame last year when he said "get used to it" when referring to GPU prices lol

Way too much for 5070 unfortunately. But with a bit of clever name gigging who knows

Don't forget turing and ampere, it's safe to upgrade now  ;)
