Actually managed to get into a server eventually (and reconnect when it restarted) so that was a miracle.

Overall performance is a lot better. I think even in Cherno my fps didn't drop below 45 and was at times around 60. In smaller towns fps was usually over 90. Out in the "wild" fps was often 100+. Even @ 45 fps the game feels a huge amount smoother (at least in 3p, didn't try 1p). Lots of actions now feel a lot smoother too (like vaulting etc). The new graphical effects look good (mist and stuff, not seen a huge amount though).

Currently game is stuck @ 150% render resolution running @ 1440p so I've no idea if that is a bug or whether it really is 140% x 1440. Didn't really play around with settings much but I was running:

Objects = Very High
Terrain = Very High
Shadows = Med / High
Clouds = Off
Texture = Very High
AA = Low
FX AA = Very High

Yeah DayZ is running great now.. i even have those settings running on a 7950 and i get great framerates. Lucky to get in a server tho, with over 60 million quid made already you would think they'd spend a little more on servers (only 20 Exp atm) as they only cost £50 a month.. they really should have seen this coming, 15,000 players trying to get into only 2200 slots? LoL

When the new player controller comes, THAT will be the BIG update, as its still clunky as ****.. it just looks, and runs nicer now.

Downloading the experimental now, I really have to get back into this. When I played the Arma 2 mod running out and finding a bicycle was HEAVEN

so, as someone who hasn't been near this in well over a year... any worthwhile changes? (must be thousands of new hats by now )
servers capable finally of running hordes of zombies instead of 2 or 3?

no not really.its a lottery if you get in a experimental server.

I'd consider a new renderer and vastly improved performance a worthwhile change.

i seen about performance but i want to try it for myself.

the amount of lies the dayz team have told since they started this disaster of a game has been truly film worthy

some people say its great performance difference some said same i seen.

difference is the minimums for me also if with zombies it drops to the usual slideshow regardless of pc spec.

i seen a video recently where he had fraps on was boasting about performance yet it was under 30 fps with one zombie near him !

that was on a empty server with one zombie.imagine full or busy server with hoarde zombies that just same old story just looks nicer.

Easiest way to get into experimental:

Favorite all 0.60 servers
Either connect to a 0/60 or not full server.
Comes up with a box with "OK" hover the mouse over so it highlights, and spam Enter repeatedly.

Works for me. Just stick with it. When there's no text on the Dayz loading screen usually means you're in, with Direct at the bottom left.

All I get is " Connection Failed ", always have! Doesn't matter if it's 0 or just not full. Game after 5 nights of trying

i tried it the performance is decent now.i benchmarked it.

lowest fps for me was 55 fps !

the game isnt fixed though still the same old mess.just a playable mess now

Was talking to Matt Lightfoot the other day, he gets the same train as me to his new job. He didn't seem to enthusiastic about Dayz conversation haha.

I loved this game and hope one day it captures what the mod was.

Really enjoyed playing on one of the experimental servers! I can't wait until this goes live, DayZ is actually enjoyable again and very nice to look at

One guy walked near me, and it was only that I saw his pickaxe in his hand I knew it was a guy. I slashed in panic, and the response was " Hey are you trying to kill me? "

Two friendlies so far, both I said hello or sorry
