I know in Gmail if your viewing a web page through an email you can press the 3 dots and choose open in chrome, that way you can keep the page in chrome for later. Worth a try on Google search
Sure that's a solution but a silly one as I shouldn't need to remember if I leave the page for one second, everything is lost. Google in fact we're supposed to be stopping that so that long searches like this were easily something you can get back to.

It's silly as it doesn't even appear in the recent apps list, as soon as I click the recent apps, it's gone as though it never existed

All searches should auto open chrome. Non of the faff then, I would be more than happy with that. I do agree it's a silly solution. I don't use Google search and just open chrome and I only use voice assistant to stop navigation so I know little about all the features available.
Could there be someone deep in the settings or developer options?

@unwashed potato!
I just swiped right to Google discover and clicked my profile, went to settings and then other settings and turned off 'Open web pages in the app' so now if I search it click a discover link it opens a new tab in chrome.
Perfect that works. Still silly solution as really, there's absolutely no reason why when searching, as soon as I click all open apps button, it closes the search

That just surely do this on purpose. Make the 8a close to the 8 so that it encourages people to buy the last of the 8 stock right before the 9 comes out. Then when the 9 is out, the difference between that 8a and 9 will be big and the 8a can start to be more appealing. But right now it seems they have priced the 8a close to the 8 on purpose.

The regular Pixel 8 is currently £569 direct from Google so that's a much better buy and you get £215 trade-in for your phone.

yeah - didn't have it live at the time I posted this morning.

Google is the better deal - giving me £290 trade in for mine so makes the 256gb 8a only £291 which seems a very decent deal

It's pretty good, but works out £25 per month just for the a series, if you did this every year. Then plus network contract. Seems in that case it's starting to be better to be contract phone over sim only and get a sim on top these days.

whole family is on £10 a month sims each - So I just need a phone upgrade. Didn't realise my s21 ultra is 3.5 years old now - battery struggles to last a day now.

hmmm

So I can get
  • Pixel 8 256gb for £414 after trade in of my S21 Ultra
  • Pixel 8a 256 for £269 after trade in
Pixel 8 Pro for £619 after trade in.
On current offers the 8a seems like a no brainer......Any comments?

Thanks - 5% cashback via topcashback direct with google.

8a just seems weirdly priced... Only because of the boosted trade in does it make sense financially.

With no trade in's for instance it makes no sense versus the Pixel 8

£499 v £569 before any trade ins....
