Ramadan - We've been asked not to eat at our desks...

As already said, just mosey on over and have a chat with one of the muslims in your office/place of work (I'm presuming there must be at least one for the rule to have been dreamt up?). They'll probably find it just as idiotic as you do.

Bit of a silly request really, like has been said before the Muslim staff probably weren't even asked so it's not their fault. Just another case of a do gooder with no idea not wanting to offend anyone.

Next year say you're giving up something up for lent and request that nobody in your office eats what you have chosen to give up :)
If AJUK's new religion makes it so that doing any work has to be given up, then I'm signing-up to it straight away. :)

you sad ************. have some respect.

I guess that's directed at me. *yawn*
I gave it all the respect it deserves....

Joking aside, when I lived in a middle east country we used to respect the local customs and refrain from eating in public during ramadan, but the last time I checked this is the secular land of the UK, not ayatollah land.

I would say it's a pity that our muhammadan brothers don't take the same attitude, but I rather suspect the instigators of problems like these are white, middle class lefty do gooders who think it's a noble cause to be offended for everybody except the majority.

Sigh...

Instead of getting into a argument with his boss about something that really quite trivial in the bigger scheme of things. He should save his argument for a bigger issue like pay raise or something that will effect his day actual job and in doing so, giving that much more wieght becuase he's not likely to whine about trivial inctances like above.

Second thoughts, do as everyone says here. Make a right **** of yourself and reap the benefits.

Well said. Gotta love OcUk's drama queens. You would think his boss has asked him to convert to Islam or something lol.

I think it's fair enough, it's their culture and something they live by. They are your work colleagues and you should appreciate their beliefs. It's only a month.

they can lump it or bugger off to the land of their ancestors.

do people still really think like this? have you been living under a rock for the last few years? this has NOTHING to do with Muslims - this WHOLE thread. nothing. it's to do with idiots being so stupidly PC, that they're [yet again] and completely missing the point.

like you have

also, +1 for everything BigBadBenny's said in this thread.

No Muslims, no Ramadan, no pathetic bosses asking you not to eat at your desk, a little extreme but how do you know a muslim hasn't made this request of his boss?

No its called smart working life. Those that get ahead and those who don't.

Jesus christ man. I bet your bosses LOVE you. Them - "Erm, hi, can you work the weekend as we all want to go fishing?". You - "Of course!! I'd love to!". As you get taken advantage of again and pull your pants down begging for more.

People like you in the office annoy me as they think the only way to get ahead in life is to suck up to management and never stand up for themselves. That's not the way at all. I've never put up with a stupid request in my life at work and have gone forward using my abilities and am proud for not having bent over and taken it like you have on so many occassions it would seem

How on earth can you walk straight with a butt hole as wide as yours? Bet your nickname is "Pampers Boy" isnt it?
