3 Red Lights

Dunno if this is of interest to anyone but sent off my 360 with the 3 red lights last tuesday and got it back today! So exactly 1 week. Took 3 weeks the first time. And it's the same 360 I got back not a refurb.

I sent mine off last monday not heard anything yet, out of interest how do MS contact you to let you know it's ready via email or telephone or do they just send it back?

Good thing now though is, when you send em back now, they don't send you another duffer, they send you the new version that has the problem fixed, so theres no more 'im on my 7th+ 360', as they finally admitted they were all borked months ago, so they are now shipping the new fixed ones. :)

My mate just emailed me to say he's had his returned and he got a brand spanker with a manufacture date of 20/08/07.

How dare they! Thats his first go at the MS returns and he gets a new one. I'm a frequent flyer and keep getting refurbs. I'm pretty sure I'm not far from another going belly up too. Its the least used of my two but lately I've been using it daily and the last two days its started locking and making strange noises. Its got much louder than it used to be too.

You must be the most unluckiest person ever with broken 360's!

What number are you up to now?

4, I think but the one thats dieing is still an original. I'd be amazed if it lasts another month:D

I just hope it doesnt infect the one thats sat near it. It would be just my luck to have both go down at once, i'd have to then buy a third ;)

It just turned up. Didn't have a single e-mail, not to say they'd received it or sent it. Never had an e-mail last time either. Some people do get e-mails from them though.

Btw just checked and mine has the new GPU heatsink

Rang UPS before to arrange for a collection of my xbox guess how long it took for them to come collect it :p

10 MINUTES :D how awsome

the guy just happened to be in the area so was extremly lucky

my console died on me last night, manufactured in 2005.
Phoned up and they took details off me but need to contact previous owner to verify that I am the new owner.

Will they replace it with a new console ore refurb one and what warranty comes with that one?
Also, I don't have my normal faceplace, I only have the lsot planet one, would I have to send this with the console?
Might just try and buy one on an auction site or in the shops today then sell one of them in a few weeks.

Well im absolutely gobsmacked..got home, not expecting my 360 to get back to me for at least another few weeks but walking into my room i found a nice white box with my repaired 360 in it....its only been a week and half since i sent it off.

So mucho kudos to M$, awesome stuff.

So glad i have it back, at least i can now finish up some games this weekend before my copy of Halo3 arrives.

Although i dont know what they replaced as there was no paper that outlined what they did...i thought they let u know??. Anyways its fixed, running very quiet now and also im happy to see they replaced my very very noisy dvd drive....now its quiet lol

Spawns a very happy fella indeed:D:D

I sent my console that I bought in October 2006 off to MS about a month and a half ago. Nearly three weeks later they sent me a new console that died after less than a weeks use. I rang them up and explained this and sent it back. Recieved another new console this morning, a turn around of around nine days this time.

I've been sent a console that was only built a few weeks ago, no hdmi port, but its been good so far. Pretty pleased.

You can prove its purchase via reciept as I believe it's from purchase date and not manufactured date.

Just to clarify this on the 4 consoles I ended up sending back (this was back last year) I was asked on each occasion for both the serial number and the purchase date of the console (although I was not asked for proof).

In terms of turn around I got my console back in roughly 10 days although on the third occasion I got it back minus the power brick.

What exactly do you have to send back when its going for repair? Just the console minus hard drive? complete console with hard drive? console minus hard drive and power lead? complete console with power lead?

Can't believe it mines just gone belly up watching a HD DVD :( Was a launch model manufactured Oct 05 so it's had a very good innings compared to most but it's never missed a beat till now!

Ringing the hotline was a painful experience spoke to some foreign woman who I had to keep respelling every word to (N for november not M etc :o) and yeah they just want the console no cables, power supply, hard drive etc.

5 days before Halo 3 typical!!

if you take it back to the shop where you got it from, and its in a year of the invoice date when they got it from their supplier, they can get you a brand new one from them. i did it with mine.

My lads 360 turned up today, it took exactly 3 weeks from being collected. I got a little note inside mentioning what had been replaced. They replaced the motherboard and the DVD player, any idea why they would replace that? The console was reading disks fine before the red rings?

They chucked in a months subscription to x-box live gold as a good will gesture, so he's pleased, that's all that matters i guess :)

I wouldn't know, maybe they thought the drive looked damaged or may stop performing correctly.

They probably have a disc to put in that gives them all the information and a reading on the drive might have been less than expected.

hiya figured post in ere instead off opening thread anyway brought 360 from certain shop and got 2 year extended warranty . now 360 keeps showing 3 red lights even when playing dvd so does this mean i can just box it up walk ionto the store and walk out with a new one hopefully one of your helpful lot work in a store and know?
