2007 Japanese GP - Race 15/17

Becuase Fred is the english equivalent to Fernando. :D:D

I have no idea apart from it has the same letters in it.

Fred behaves like a caveman and can only say "Yabba-Dabba-Doo," shortening it to "YABBA-DABBA!!!" when he gets really mad

At least the Cobbler could drive the wheels off a car, Fred is a plodder with a spoilt brat streak

Any one who really thinks a racing car becomes really quick and reliable because fred drove it for an hour is seriously deluded.

It doesnt become more reliable, but it can certainly become faster due to the information that he may be able to communicate to his race engineers and designers. D.Hill was very good at this. He was a fantastic test driver where he could assist in the swift development of the car, being able to explain exactly how the car behaves to the R+D team. Senna also had this ability. On the other hand you have some drivers who will come in and drive the pants off a car but arent too bothered with the development of the vehicle. I believe Raikonnen would be one such driver.

Alonso even claimed in a recent statement that he brought about 0.5s per lap to the team, when he joined them. There is definitely some truth in this. We have seen Renault dissapear and Mclaren re-appear. The only change was Alonso and I dont think it is a coincidence.

you obviously know nothing about engineering or the process of designing an F1 car, the car was finished way before Frederico got there.

Believe it or not I actually liked him back then, but I think Lewis put into words very clearly my current thoughts.

Didn't he nick that 0.5s from the Donkeys

Fred claims and demands lots of things, like most stuff that comes out of his mouth, its a bit empty.

Ok so I have a conspiracy theory about the Ferraris today, which goes like this:-

When Kimi was coming through the pack and got up to 4th, they suddenly decided that Massa needed another pit stop, does anyone think that they did it on purpose because team orders arent allowed, so they could get Kimi past him and onto the podium.

Am just suprised no ones mentioned it so far. It just seemed a bit odd that they wouldnt have worked out all the fuel strategies to then suddenly decide that he didnt have enough fuel when Kimi managed to get himself up the field as he did.

Kimi actually had two pit stops for fuel, once on lap 14 and once on lap 40. Massa fuelled on lap 15 and then did his drive through penalty on lap 20. It would appear that the Ferrari couldn't run through till the end on only the single stop so had to come in again.

Who actually watched it live this morning? I woke up at around 4am to watch it but fell asleep again. When it came to watch the race re-run, good job I did'nt watch it live, 24 laps was it behind the safty car at the start, that would have been a bit boring to watch.

Once the race got under way though, what a race it turned out to be. Full of action which is great to see.

It was disappointing on a Ferrari note though, they sent both thier drivers out on the intermediate tyre instead of the full wet tyre at the start. I personally think that they knew that they had to change the tyre but being Ferrari, they tried to bend the rules and did'nt get away with it. Once both of the drivers were down at the back of the grid, I thought that was it. How wrong, was that of me to think like that. Turned out not to be soo bad. Kimi raced through the field, I loved the way he took that line through turn 5, he hung it out there and found some grip from somewhere, I was suprised that no other driver was really doing it.

Shame for Alonso, he binned it into the barriers. Cant really see an outside view of the crash, but it looked like he tried to take turn 5 wide like Kimi but lost the back end. Shame that his race ended like that, I would have loved to see him and Hamilton battle it out till the end.

On a Hamilton note, he had a very good race. Had his car setup good enough to keep Alonso at bay. Even though that Im not a biggest Hamilton out there, I have to give him credit for the lap that planted him on pole, it was stunning.

Sector 3 of the last lap between Massa and Kubica was class :D Brilliant driving there, pushing each other all over the place, off and on the track, it was a joy to watch.

Overall, I do think that Hamilton has the title in the bag now and its his unless he makes mistakes. He only just needs to pick up points thats all, do nothing stupid.

Alonso, has a chance still, he definatly needs to win and Hamilton to either retire or finish around 8th. Kimi has an small outside chance for the title. Would require him winning both the remaining races with Massa finish 2nd and Hamilton and Alonso to have a couple of retirements between them.

I guess, theres always runner up in the championship to go for. It would be the 3rd time for Kimi :(

You are forgetting the change in both the make of tyres and the rules covering them. Last year the tyres used by each team were tailored to the characteristics of that teams car (and Renault had been running some interesting weight distributions compared to other teams on the grid so the tyres were important in getting the car to work). This year every car has to run the exact same two compounds of tyre and Reggie have had difficulties getting everything to work with their design philosophy.

They also spent the end of last year desperately trying to keep their car ahead of the Dancing Donkeys which hampered the design work on getting this years car ready.

I agree with you there. With Renault somewhat falling behind and McLaren coming good again, I doubt its much of a coincidence at all. I dont think that Alonso brought half a second per lap to the team but he definatly brought something with him.

On the other hand, Hamiltons recent comments about, him and Pedro Del La Rosa being told to welcome Alonso into the team like he was special is crap. How Hamilton said it, it was like they were forced to welcome Alonso into the team and make him the one that the team was focussed around. Alonso was new to the team, thats a fact, Pedro and Hamilton was already there, around the scenes anyway. Anyone new, you are going to welcome them. Thats all, then get to your job in hand.

In another interview, he was saying that he left Alonso plenty of room into turn 2 and Eau Rouge a couple of weeks ago at Spa was crap too. Alonso was pretty much against the wall, there were a cars width there but not that much else. It was naughty for him to say that he would put Alonso into the wall / barrier next time. Thats good team mates for you.

Well I think Fred should scurry of back to Renault then and we'll find out.

Using your logic any team Fred drives for will turn into world champs.

Didn't he drive for Minardi at one point?

Yes, he did but that was when he was starting out. That was his first drive.

Anyway, I didnt say any team Alonso goes to he will turn them into a champion winning team. It was just more of a coincidence that Renault fall short of the ultimate pace when he left. Not saying that McLaren having done great work and put time into thier car, which they have. The people have made a great job behind the scene's. I just think that Alonso has pushed them a little further into the right direction being the two time world champion and all.

I guess you dont like Alonso then? Why you call him Fred anyway? Sounds stupid...
