FIFA 08 Official Thread

I got another win online last night. Played 5 won 4. I seem to be really good online.

I tried winning a game on Legendary vs the CPU, I was Chelsea and I put them as some foreign 1 star team.............and I lost 1-0

How do you find out your ranking? Games played etc purely for online? Is it in My Stats I presume?

I played my first ranked match (on my own) last night and beat the guy 2-0, Boro Vs Sunderland :D

Not sure how the points situation works yet really.

I can't remember off the top of my head but in the stats bit (maybe under profiles) there is an option for 'My Xbox Live Career'

It tells you lots of info in there :)
 
Getting frsutrated with the bad losers on XBL on this i allways play West Ham thats my team so dosent matter if they pick AC Milan etc.
Playing online last night V MAN U AC Milan and I was winning with like 1 min to go and they pause and disconect .
So do I get the win automaticaly or does XBL just discard that game?

I would also like to know this. Although I haven't had it happen yet despite being 3-0 up a couple of times.

Yeah, I thought the guy last night would quit after getting the second in 90th minute.

Someone quit at 0-0 but I presume the game is just recorded as a draw.

Do people know what the tactics are using the DPAD?
 
If someone quits should be a 3-0 win for you, well that's what normally happens in Fifa games, sometimes takes a while for them to give you the win but normally they do.
 
Wasn't really aware of FIFA's default win score, I know PES' 3-0.

They should change this though, on PES I was once beating a guy 7-0 and he quite late on, surely if the score difference betters 3+ then the person should be given that score. Can't be hard to address surely.
 
Have a look on EA forums maybe for what goes on with online play, unfortunatley i dont have internet so i cant play online. Might pick up a wireless adapter.
 
Well I can say that on the PS3 if the other person quits you get the win unsure of the score it records at.

Have had my best mate over tonight and we played a few online games, lost the first on penalties but the second wow what a match.

The other player started strong passing it around us we managed to get are act together and went in at half time 1-1 and the match went to extra time, in the first few minutes of extra time the guy went 2-1 up, until I unleased a top left hand corner 25 yard screamer, should have seen me and my mate going mental lol.

In the final minute we managed a break away and won a penalty but the other player quit so it gave us a default win.

:) Quality evening.

Can I interest anyone in a PS3 online league?
 
mate of mine with a Wii and a Netgear DG834N is having right problems with Fifa online, can't complete a full game without it disconnecting him, he's forwarded all the ports as per the manual, turned on uPnP etc etc but still disconnects, anyone else had Wii connection problems similar?

You auto win - but it doesn't give a score. You can check your previous matches on your XBL Career screen, just cycle through the screens.

I was ranked in the top fifty yesterday, but haven't played today so I'm bound to be like 200 or so now :(.
 
I was starting to get bored of manager mode with Arsenal, it just didnt feel challenging enough. Im now Yeovil and have signed some quality players and back to enjoying it.
 
I'm quite liking manager mode aswell, started with Leeds and its been fun so far.

Got a real rush when i sent a scout away and signed a 20 year old central defender for £109,000 and he turned out to be a 72 overall player. Hopefully i can grab some more bargains! :cool:

The arena is a great touch, beats staring at a loading bar!

Been yonks since i last played a Fifa game (WC1998 was the last one i think) so i am still picking it up!

Currently got Huddersfield town top of league 1 :D

Yeah, didn't really think about an online league even so there's many of us playing on here.

Does someone want to start a new thread and get interested people? I could, been capable of organising PES leagues before?
 
Been playing Fifa 08 on the 360 since Monday and have been enjoying it a lot. I am a PES man personally, but decided to get this to get me through until PES comes out. I am impressed but it does have its niggles, but nothing that is preventing me from playing.

The goalkeepers still seem to be like brick walls, and stop everything that goes near them, and it is almost impossible to do someone for pace as well. However, the realism more than makes up for these minor problems.

However, one thing that is annoying me its Live Play, or lack of in my case. I tried playing last night, both unranked and ranked games but both times it got as far as the team select screen and then said this option is no longer available (or something like that) and kicks me out. Does this happen to anyone else, or could it be that at 10pm there are no players online wanting to give me a game?
 
I haven't had any real problems connecting to live games, but as said above it's annoying having to download the squad updates everytime. Once this has been done it seems the opposing player can quit, but if I try again I get a game with someone.
