How much did you pay for your first years insurance? (0 NCB)

2400 TPFP on a 106 rallye @ 17.

Worth it now though as I can insure pretty much anything in reason, unlike my mates who have been on their parents insurance.

£1350 fully comp for a 98 306 XS with the following mods declared:

Exhaust

Lowering

GTI-6 interior

Alloys

Steering wheel

Stainless dash

This year I added:

Uprated dampers

206 GTI 180 brakes

4-2-1 manifold and exhaust system

and it's now £700!! :D

1800 quid TPFT, '78 Triumph Dolomite 1850HL. Nonstandard alloys.

Dropped to 500 quid the next year.......for the win! My insurance hasn't deviated much from 500 quid since then at all! :D

£350 TPFT at 17 on a W reg Renault 5 Gordini (or shed, depending on the light)

Repainted in dulux red with a 4" brush by the previous owner. Did cost me just under half of the insurance though.....

I remember the insurance being very high for my 205GTI 1.6 - Owned between 96-99 IIRC. Think the first one was over a grand.

When I bought my Nissan Pulsar GTIR, the sale of the 205 only just covered the first year on the R (£1400 in 99) 23 years old, max NCB , clean license.

I got one quote on a UK GTIR (they didn't do imports) with the car valued at £5K they wanted £5.5K :D

Hence the reason I went to Adrian Flux who wasn't interested in the options.

Did you try quinn direct? Probably would have been about half the price. I'm paying £1300 for a 530d @ 23 (22 when policy started) FC with 1 years NCB, and I live in Ireland which immediately adds a ridiculous amount over a UK address.

They came out slightly more expensive (only about 100 quid).

I expect next Aug it will reduce by over £1K

17 yrs old - Citroen Saxo 1.5 Diesel - £950 (provisional license)
18 yrs old - Citroen Saxo 1.5 Diesel - £950 (provisional license)
19 yrs old - Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi - £1000 (full license)
20 yrs old - Mercedes Benz E320 CDi Avantgarde - £1450 + Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi - £950
21 yrs old - Mercedes Benz E320 CDi Avantgarde - £1300 + Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi - £800

No claims and no points *touch wood*

I'm with Halifax for the Merc and Halifax actually increased my insurance from £1450 to £1550 on the renewal quote... I had to call them to get it dropped down to £1300... how stupid was that? Although it was half as much as the second cheapest which was just over £3k :p

Will have four years NCB soon... and will be over 22... which should mean I can get insured on something a bit more sporty for not a lot more :D
