I will want to take my raptor out of my current machine to put in to a new build that ill be buying shortly.

What is the best way to copy it on to another drive, and then swap them over. ie take my raptor (boot drive) out but still leave this pc running off of another older HD i have. .

Norton Ghost is a pretty simple way to do it, as is Anachros TrueImage (both companies may now have changed but the product names should be the same). However they do cost money, I don't know of a free product that does the same or at least nothing as good. :)

I used Acronis True Image to copy my boot partition form a single IDE drive to a SATA RAID0 setup without problems, highly recommended.

Some body in a separate thread mentioned Ubuntu Live CD, which is an OS that boots off a CD.
That got me thinking that if this was used, would it be possible to copy and paste the C drive while running Ubuntu???

But surely you will need a fresh install of XP as the drivers would be different, unless of course it is exactly the same setup.

thanks for all the replies.

will have a look at those clone apps.. i assume you can image the drive whilst booting from it..?

and yes, i want to copy the c: and then take it out and put the copy in so everything stays the same (except that actual drive)
