IGN PES 2008 REVIEW!!!

And it also has Celtic songs being sung at Rangers games, quite stupid and kind of ruins it, if going to do it, do it right. Sound in a football game, meh not really something I consider worth reviewing.

Don't go to many matches then, eh?
As someone who frequently goes to Old Trafford I find the crowd a big part of the atmosphere.

I wonder if console and PC users will all be able to play together, I know with the last PES PC players could play PS2 players, but not xbox as it was a different verison, hope all three can play together this time so I can save some money. \o/

I doubt it. would have heard by now if we could.

Go to plenty of matches not sure Fifa has the sound of prawn sandwiches being eaten tho :D, great atmosphere normally comes from great football on the pitch no? My point was I see many great games of football when watching junior league without the need for a big crowd, its the football I go to see not the fans. And also the fans chanting for a team that is not even playing is rather a killer for me on Fifa, imagine you are playing as Man U and all you hear is Liverpool songs you think that would be ok?

its one of the reasons i cannot stand PES, the sound, along with the commentry, the non offical teams, fifa may not be perfect but PES isn't IMHO for me either and fifa for me is the best of a bad bunch. Yeah i know PES fans keep harping on about its not sound, real teams, this and that etc, etc, but at the end of the day i want a quick go on a football game that looks, plays, sounds real as possible

Well they've sorted out the commentry it seems, Lawro and Jon Champion are doing it this year which should be decent, I haven't heard any of it yet though.

At least they're trying to improve the areas you mention.

edit: just heard some of the commentry here http://www.pcaction.de/?article_id=615980, not bad at all I must say. Still no Tyler & Gray though.

"...Theres no other game on PS3 that you're guaranteed to be playing obsessively this time next year. PES is magic because it is football in all its glory and madness, and as such you're never really finished with it."

POM will be on the shelves from tomorrow, make sure you pick it up for the full review!

PlayStation Official Magazine awarded PES 2008 9/10.

But my point is, the teams in Fifa aren't likely to tray in a couple of guys with dogs are they? Surely something like proper crowd chants and cheers can only benefit a game?
As for the song chants at Man Utd vs Liverpool, it's more Man Utd at Old Trafford, Liverpool at Anfield.

It's great that Fifa has crowd cheering, there is absolutely no way you can possibly see it as a negative element. Well, no way most people could see it as a negative.

Thanks for the link Weringo, I really enjoyed watching and listening to that. Its going to be a great game I'm sure of it.

I was happy with PES 6, a totally unashamed fan boy of Pro ever since ISS.. I loved PES6 so this is exactly what I want, just a few embellishments. :D

i prefer the audio on the Winning 11 Japanese version. Sayings such as "Yello Cardo" etc make for much entertainment.

my fave version however was the older PC one where i downloaded a massive mod for it that had kill bill music etc for the intro, menu's and that was the shizz.

It's funny that there isn't really anything in this version that stands out as an improvement. I mean Teamvision is great but it shouldn't be the newest and greatest feature.

They were really struggling to put things on the back of the box from what I can see.

It's sad that the real reason I'm buying this is because I can update premiership teams and because Scotland, Rangers and Celtic are improved.

Good commentary and the game looks much slower than the demo too.

I must say ONCE again.......those nets are AWESOME!

so the demo was just a rushed out, makes no resemblance to the actual game, game?

if so, it may require a purchase from me :)

You can get it for the PS3 for £30 if you look around on the internets :)

I'm happy that the slowdown doesn't hinder the gameplay, it seems to be quite minimal. Even if it's bad in cut scenes I'll put up with it but next year I hope PES improves greatly.

I dont have a ps3, but every game Iv played has suffered from fairly frequent slowdowns, and now pro evo does too? jesus i just figured it was Fifa's bad coding.

Dont the ps3 owners feel a little cheesed off? =/

so EA games are a no-no? :D
thats pretty lame to be honest, its a shame sony didnt make them a bit cheaper, maybes then there wouldnt be as lazy ports for you lot

of course, no-one wants a bad experience when you pay so much £££ for the hardware and the games too!

but who do you get cheesed off at; Sony, or the game developer?

and id also say that NO current format is perfect and exempt from Slowdown/Bad programming...that includes PC, XBOX360 and PS3... so that kinda sets your expectations quite low to begin with.

ut expectations should be exceeded...

Most of the games that are first party and not poor ports of 360 games don't drop in framrate.

It is poor coding, as it has framrate drops on 360 as well.

I mean look at Bioshock, it runs very smooth and it looks fantastic yet PES6 looks like crap and drops in framrate when there's too many players on screen.

Lawrenson sounds like he is talking to a 2 year old in that clip. Its certainly improved though feels a little flat still. My favorite line of PES commentary was 'Harry kewl's looking for a free man'
