EVGA - Cherry Picking?

Yes but I was posting on this topic, and EVGA have pushed the Shader 500mhz higher than other 700mhz Core 8800GT's.

I just get 700mhz Core on my Ultra (stock is 655mhz).

BTW, Newegg sold out in 1st day all the EVGA 8800GT SSC Cards, wonder when slow UK gets them.

Someone obviously has to run checks on the cards to ensure they actually meet the rated specs. Whether this is before or after they are delivered to EVGA is another question.

Easyrider> I thought all your doing is beating gtx's in 3Dmark, which is widely regarded as not being a reflection of real game performance anymore. I doubt your performing better than a gtx in with all the eye candy turned on per se. Don't want to cool your fire but reality check ;)

At the end of the day if you buy a cheapo GT and it can't hit 700 and only manages 680, will you be able to see a difference? and is the difference in performance worth the difference in cost???

NO!

Just get the cheapest and be happy with any overclock over stanadard. I guarantee you will be more than happy :)

My Zotac one that runs at 660mhz on the core out the box and 900 mhz on the memory doesn't really overclock very well, can't even get it to 680mhz/980mhz while stable, so if you only pay a bit more for overclocking, the guarantee is great.

Might want to edit out that competitor.

Might want to appreciate that Newegg are hardly a competitor being based in the US when duty, shipping, and RMA issues will put most UK consumers off purchasing from them.

Newegg do not ship internationally, so not a competitor. If they did, regardless of cost, safe to assume them as competition.

Thats why I mentioned them, they dont ship to UK and I never expected it to get edited out and would not have posted a real URL anyhow.

The EVGA 8800GT SSC 700/1750/2000 is like $309, there is only $40 in it from the vanilla GT through to the GT KO, to the GT SC to the flagship GT SSC.

Oh EVGA cards get you Quake Wars free :p

So the question is do they test them first? Or is it cheaper to just stick the bios in, and send it out, hoping it's gonna be ok?

Matthew

You think so ?

Thats why they have 700/1750/2000, that other faster brand (Zontom or something I aint heard of )has 700/1700/2000.

You can see all over web, some cant hit 700 Core, they could mod cooling and volt mod obv like any other card.

Some cardd will do that speed and even higher though thats down to pure luck.

If you buy a card like the above EVGA its going it run that speed backed up with a warrenty if it dont and it may or may not go higher, again thats down to luck but the part where they get it to 700/1750/200 aint luck, its good Core Samples IMO.

It would be bad business to OC a run of mill Core and back up with a 10year (EU) Lifetime(USA) warrenty.

@ Scougar, Their site claims they are 100% tested, they also make some models with their own coolers ACS3 (though not 8800GT yet)
