yes, most appreciate it and thank me as they pass, nice breed those motorcyclists, just wish they knew they aren't invincible sometimes though.

I always acknowledge when somebody moves over for me, but it can be annoying when someone is driving along almost with 2 wheels on the pavement through places you'd never consider passing. Much safer to just drive normally and I'll pass you when it's safe to do so. On the motorway in stopped traffic I'd like to nod to all the drivers who shufty over but if I did I'd look like a nodding dog and I really need to be concentrating on where I'm going.

I always pull over for bikers too, i think generally the ppl who dont are the ***** who check their mirrors once an hour.

I always pull over for bikers, i cannot understand why people wouldn't. This very morning i was stuck in a jam on the motorway, there had been an accident and it was reduced to 2 lanes. I look in the mirrors and see a bike wanting to make progress, i pull over as far as i can but the guy in front wouldn't budge.

The biker got past eventually and not surprisingly gave him the finger :)

I always have, guess it comes from the years as a kid, being taken to watch motocross and seeing my old man doing it for all the bikers.

If someone does it for me on the bike, they will get a thumbs up :)

Scort.

Unless the biker is being an **** behind me then I'll leave room - if not then I'll ignore.

Just interested to know what you mean by being an ****?

For me personally, and I hate this when cars do it, it's tailgating - but when I'm on the bike I have to keep the forward momentum, and often feel I am closer that I would like (if I was the car driver) to the car in front. If that makes sense?

Do you mean that?

Scort.

Would you not consider becoming a biker again?

I am very tempted to be honest, I had a quick blat on an old Ninja a while back and it was grin inducing to say the least. I am stunned at how much bike you get for the money these days, and it would probably halve the time to take me to get to work, especially in the summer.

However, since I stopped riding I have the added responsibility of a wife and a young daughter to consider, and I know my mum stressed massively when I was into bikes, so it's a difficult decision.

I never really feel comfortable with a biker behind me, as you never know when they're gonna blast past you. I let 'em go by, and even get 'the wave' occasionally.

I appreciate that sometimes they may not actually want to pass and just want to pootle along, but they just make me uneasy with their headlight shining in my rear view mirror.

i do whenever i can, id rather minimse the chance of my car being damage

im not one of those nooobz that get shirty due to having a chip on their shoulder about people 'pushing in the queue' etc. i left junior school when i was 11 HTH

Yep, though it seems only sports and superbike riders acknowledge it - tourers, trail bike riders etc don't seem to in my experience.

That because they're gits :p Hardly ever get a nod from them, I nod at all bikers, not so much to learners on 50cc 'peds, but if I see a learner kitted and on a 'proper' bike, I'll nod.

The A word

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear (sorry pretty tired and had a really bad day!).

I'm not one for tailgating, hate it, hate it when people do it to me - I'll slow down even if I'm speeding.

I essentially meant if the biker behind me is driving right in my boot, it's happened I don't like it - pressure like that makes me uneasy so I'll react to it.
