are people still paying pc games?

I haven't played a game in over a year... and the two years before that maybe a total of about 20 hours of Unreal Tournament over 10 sittings.

I have far better things to do with my life that waste whole evenings playing games. The real world is significantly more interesting.

Well good for you, some people enjoy it. If they enjoy playing the games what the hell is the problem? I really take offense to people like you.

Sigh.

On the PC gaming front - the only reason to own a console is for the pick up and play/have friends round style. It will never replace the PC.

If you keep your PC up to date then the best experience will be on the PC.

CoD4 ( yawn) ? Also on consoles...
Crysis ( yawn, runs bad on a 2 year old pc and looks worse than 4 year old games on it )
GoW, console had it a lot sooner.
The what? Never heard of it.
Episode 2: Only good game out in ages.
UT3: Also not just pc only.

Most good games also come out for consoles...

Ulf sums this up perfectly.

Dude, chill. He was not having a go at anyone. He was simply stating that games, to him, were a waste of his time.

Like post 5000 posts on Overclockers forums? Classic :D

And if you have no interest in PC Gaming why are you in the PC Games forum posting how much better rl is? Perhaps you are some kinda of "real life" cult recruiter trying to lure people away from the horrors of PC Gaming. Anyone need deconditioning call 1-800-MUPPET.

*EDIT* Perhaps should have read entire thread before posting. Just seen the hate reply has already been made. Seriously though it's like going onto a Christian forum and saying god doesn't exist just to raise a response. If that's your life buddy you need to get a new one...........

it's funny that whenever gaming is mentioned, be it pc or console, it's always "omg rl is so much better" - like the 2 can't coexist?? contrary to the south park WoW episode, gamers aren't all fat and spotty in living in our mum's basement. for example, i am a super buff cool kind of guy with lots of real life friends and a girlfriend with big boobies which demand lots of attention, living in close proximity to a public house that exchanges some of my hard earned cash for "beer".

pc gaming is alive and well and getting stronger, in fact in 40 years when i have to retire i'm still going to be gaming. i'll be an uber cool old guy pwning all the young n00bs.

care to give some examples? I really don't think that going to the gym, getting drunk or watching crappy reality shows on TV defines interesting.

I haven't been on my desktop PC for ages now. I use my laptop for internet and Football Manager, and I am on the 360 when I want to game. I really really miss FPS games with a keyboard and mouse, but I am living with my GF now and I get very little time to play games now :(

it is very possible that it is just me, but pc games seem to have gone down the pan :( - sure there is the odd one that comes out every now and then that'll spark an interest, but i just think consoles are where its been at for a long time...

in fact, i am in the process of selling my pc and laptop to get a macbook pro for doing all my work, and using the leftover money for a pc3 or 360, the only reason i have a powerful pc is for the gaming side, a macbook pro will be more than capable for all my photoshop/illustrator work etc.

the last game i really bothered with was quake 4, and i lost interest in that after about a week :(

maybe its just me.

LOL haven't you seen the 650 posts for COD4 the 1000 posts for Orange box there has never been a better time to game on the PC.

Games are cheaper than their Console counterparts (generally) and the graphics are better if your machine can handle them.

I dont remember a time when pc gaming was so good (going back as far as c64's and speccy's), it does get boring from time to time during the dry spells when theres nothing to look forward to,but in the end when ive finnished work, given the kids their bath's and left the missus to enjoy her soap's i cant think of much else i'd rather be doing than immersing myself into a good pc game. Like some i dont really get much out of TV and rarely watch it unless there is a match i want to see on sky sports (and to be honest the wife control's the remote) so to me my gaming "habit" is an equivelant to sitting in front of the telly with the remote in my hand. As im getting on a bit now (35) and my drinking and socializing days are behind me (thanks kids) it really is my favourite way of putting the day beind me, i do wish fm08 wasnt taking up quite so much of my time however..

Hehe we must be twins. I couldn't have wrote it better and even the same age... spooky. However I don't call my social life dead just yet (thanks to a very nice babysitter.... :D)

he he, pass on their name please, i think our usual sitter has blacklisted our number.. maybe a bit of a comute though... lol :)

At 143 posts I think my posting career is far behind his/hers tbh so no it is not pot calling kettle black. More pot calling kettle a fool for making sweeping generalisations that state playing pc games = having no social life. And if posting is the life he/she is talking about then that's a "real life" in a league of its own. ;)

Not another one of these threads...

PC gaming right now has to be the best it has for years, and by what it looks like will continue to improve.

 Isnt that the pot calling the kettle black?

Maybe posting is the life that he was talking about

Hehe, well for me the two best games so far are Battlefield 2 for its online teamplay aspect, and Portal from Valve for its unique and fun gameplay?

Although that's with a healthy balance of going out drinking and of course the best game of all . . Women :)
