its has vga out, yes. it also has 3 x usbs and 1 x sdcard slot.

just incase you didnt know it DOESNT have a cd/dvd drive. you will need a usb cd/dvd drive to install/reinstall an o/s (or a bootable usb stick/sdcard if you can figure out how to create one). it comes pre-installed with a asus modified version of linux.

you should give the official website/specification a perusal just to check if i havent missed anything important.

Ouch, definitely not buying one yet then. Haven't used one yet, only seen across a room, but it looked good. Hoping for a price drop after "that time of the year" or a newer revision to be announced rather than paying £250! :)

It was up at £219 for a couple of hours but I missed that due to a visa secure screwup :(, then went to £229 which I ordered it at, almost as soon as I'd ordered it jumped to £234 and yesterday I think it was £239 or something and now its £252 lol... I definatly wouldn't buy one now at that price - not that its an amazing little machine but the almost £200 price tag is part of what made it special.

I think they lost more profit from customers than they gained from the £100 price jump on the wii - I hang out on a lot of IRC channels and saw so many people moan about that how they were just about to buy but won't now after the conversation came up.
 
mmmmmmmm, I like OcUK but their business ethics lately puzzle me, I thought the wii's were a one off tbh, I don't like the thought of them upping the price over rrp on any product they see fit just because they are highly demanded, I think that reflects badly on the company.

well i was going to buy one tomorrow(£234 was ok with me as it saved waiting for the post)
but now it's at over £250 thats just crazy, i'll be waiting till other stores get them in now.
everyone i know just laughed when i told them the price of the wii but if they want to be greedy let them.
 
I've decided I''m going to get one!
But I shall wait untill after christmas for the 8g to come out and some more of the userbase to see how hackable/modable it is :)
 
i have here, a hard disk caddy, its a cheapo thing with "safecom" written on it, you put a regular ide HDD in it, and it has usb2, firewire ports etc.

so inside it has a pcb, an ide cable, and a 4 pin power cable, could i connect this to a cd rom drive to connect to the eee do you think? i realise it will look cack, but for a one off xp install, would it work do you think?

i guess it would depend if the unit is a USB to hard disk adapter specifically, or a USB to IDE adapter.

hmmmmm, might give it a try as its would mean i wouldnt have to get hold of a usb cd rom, that i'd only ever use maybe once or twice.

just a thought....

as far as i know it will work.. i hope so because im looking to do the same thing, im going to try it tomorrow. If not ill have to buy a external dc drive that will only be used once :mad:

strip away the "caddy" and what you have left in effect is a "ide to usb converter", which is exactly what you need.

i installed xp by connecting my ide dvd-rom to my eee via such a ide to usb converter (although mine was a "belkin" caddy).

if you happen to have a sata cd/dvd-rom then you need a "sata to usb converter"
 
Just logging on to check Overclockers have these in stock before I set out to collect one - can't believe it....£252 quid.

It was already 15 quid over the odds on other retailers, and now it's 32quid more....

Fleecing loyal customers on in demand products is not a good long term business strategy OCUK!

Could I pay the extra? Probably. Will I pay the extra? Due to the ethics involved, absolutely not.

Im actually stuck between this and the Vario III
As you can see i posted another thread about it....wrong forum i know.
This has probably more uses and easy software installation than the vario, but the phone is even more portable.
Im researching away here trying to make up my mind, I need a new phone in the next few days though so it make up mind time.Divx at work would be sweeeettt :p

Obviously i would be waiting on a price drop too
