How do you protect yourself (or rather your wallet) against Pick-Pockets?

Keep wallet in your front trouser pockets? or back?

....or inside jacket / coat pockets?
 
My girlfriend had her phone taken from her back pocket - alas this was in Leeds.

I've never been pick pocketed in London nor do I know anyone who has been. It's all about being vigilant, no matter where you are.
 
Keep your wallet in a pocket you can always feel its there.
Keep your wallet in a zip pocket
Dont make it obvious which pocket your wallet is in
If anyone is near you and they look dodgey just be alert
If you feel a hand in your pocket smack them in the teef :D
 
Id love to have someone who can pick pocket really well try it on me as i really dont see how they could get it out of peoples pockets without them feeling it lol, just my opinion of course.
 
I don't worry about it in the UK, but if I'm carrying a wallet when travelling somewhere dodgy (as opposed to a moneybelt) I put an rubber band around my wallet. The rubber catches on the fabric of your trousers making it harder to get out and making the movement more obvious.

Well there is that.... plus I do tend to smell like Dead Cat in a Wet Bin on a Hot Day most of the time (new fragrance from Calvin Klein)...so people generally avoid me too :)
 
I keep my wallet in the lining pocket of my bike jacket. Nobody is going to be taking that whilst I'm conscious and wearing. It also isn't obvious there is a pocket there if someone was to try and find it while I wasn't wearing it.

It's just a shame I haven't had a motorbike for a few years now! I just can't be bothered buying a new jacket, plus it helps keep people away in the first place. Plus, I don't go anywhere near cities or even major towns anymore so hardly any chance of underworld opportunists anyway.
 
I'll give you some advice, If a Pick-Pocketer WANTS your wallet, he/she WILL get it, no-matter WHERE it is on your body...If its in your back pocket, a slight knock from behind can distract u can cause them to grab it, if its in your coat pocket, all they need to do it walk into you head on by mistake and away your wallet goes......again, if they want it, 95% of the time they WILL get it, unless u chain to yourself.....
 
I always have my wallet in my front pocket, find it much safer, plus much more comfortable lol.
When coming out of Koko once I had it in my back pocket, and some guy tried to take it, needless to say, I was aware of this, and a quick turn around and few words later, he was rather sorry heh.
 
Back pocket is a bad idea, you dont have much feeling there, and they can easily see which pocket its in.

I normally keep it in my front pocket, or just give it to the gf to keep it - saves time at the shops :( :p

Only if your a bit naive, If I have my winter coat on with it in the inside pocket and the Zip closed, they're not getting it. I hate having things in my jeans pockets, so have never had anything lifted.

More likely to be victim of a snatch and grab.
 
Or you know the tricks of the trade some pick pockets have tried in the past to steal **** from me. Once one bloke tried the bumping into me to get my wallet and I just stopped him after he said sorry mate and was about to walk off and said it's ok dude can I have my wallet back now and he knew I'd clocked him and gave it back!
