How does Scotland have free Uni's?

I couldn't afford to go to uni if it wasn't paid for so that would mean a crap job and paying relatively normal tax. Since they decide to pay a few K for me to get educated i will probably end up in a semi decent job most likely in the higher tax bracket which means i will pay more tax back in the future....that's my excuse anyway!

One of my mates is on benefits and at £90 every two weeks thats ~£2300 P/a just so he can fart about drinking cider and smoke. That would pay my first year fees and give about £1100 to spend whilst doing so!

Maybe instead of having a go at the Scots for spending their money on a free education system, maybe we should be asking why our goverment isnt doing the same thing... how about perscribtions, can we have them free as well please....

Then agaian, maybe if the olympic games hadnt taken 50% of everyone bloody budget, there may have been enough to go around, but hey, keep looking at the scots to pick on instead of looking at what England is doing...

wow.. for me thats deep lol.... and no, im not Scotish either lol..

But why do something useful and productive when you can beat your chest and wave your copy of the Daily Mail in a threatening manner and wallow in a sense of self-righteousness??

London and the South East basically prop up the rest of the UK.

Hmm, Edinburgh is one of the largest financial centres in Europe, second only to London in the UK so I'd say it is putting in a fair effort considering the population is about 1/20th of the size (give or take, what is a few million people between friends) and Scotland itself is only about 1/11th the size last time I checked any sort of statistics on populations.

That would give us an extra £19 billion approx going by the Oxford Economics recent report and i dont think we would be complaining about that if we got all taxes that we pay up here outwith the ones we do keep :D

As to the uni fees they aren't completely free as the student grants are currently financed partly through a graduate endowment so currently it isnt all free. Although the SNP has said they will abolish this but nothing yet set up to do this. With the SNP this will never happen going by the broken promises they are piling up on a weekly basis.

It was a spoon for the pot, I don't really like the idea of devolution, but I'm an ignorant Englishman.

Neither do the vast majority of voters in Scotland, as last poll that was run showed approx 75% against the idea. With the way the SNP are going this will increase with the amount of broken election pledges they have made so far.
