*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

I got stuck momentarily on this bridge thing, took me about 10 minutes to position Shepherd to get him out of it.

I think the game feels a little static and without feeling, also the graphics are a bit of a let down with weird shadow effects on the faces and slow loading textures due to it streaming off the dvd instead of maybe installing the textures to hard drive first.

Lets hope they bring out a patch and allow us to install a portion of the data onto hd like the ps3 does!

Pesky core owners ;)

i stopped myself playing as i wasnt sleeping

my same gave says 19 hours and i think im level 30 something, but not played for a few days lol needed the rest - its so engrossing(sp?)

Brilliant story telling :)

are there large areas/cities you can explore? and can you buy things from traders etc.? and can you use melee weapons? and whats the aiming like?

Sorry for all the questions :p

Yes to all of the above, but only half a yes for the melée weapons thing.

You can use melée but it's more like pistol whipping and stuff, I don't think there's any actual melée weapons but I'm not far enough in yet to know for sure.

The aiming is good for a console game. I generally hate having to aim and shoot with my pad, but this does it well and there's a hugely generous auto-aim option for people with retarded aiming thumbs like me.

Well, this is an awesome game, but does anyone know if Bioware kept the more advanced squad control system from the early videos in it? I'm finding the 'go here' D-pad commands a bit limiting.

Spending some time exploring systems, ended up on a planet going through the scene from one of the vids, fighting the crawly things and a Geth Armature in close quarters. Really, really tricky fight.

No, they scrapped all that :(

Pity, cause the videos of it looked really interesting, now it's just the dumbed down version of pressing the d-pad to give commands.

thinking of buying an xbox360 just for this... i must be crazy

You won't regret it, I did the same,

Got the premium with PGR4 and FIFA'08 for £250, then exchanged Fifa towards Mass Effect which took it to something like £272 total iirc

And Mass Effect is awesome, PGR4 isn't too bad either :)

Argh!

Just finished it! took about 19-20 hours. I took it relatively slow aswell.

I'm gonna start again and be a bad ass this time! :p

well not been at the citadel long so far pretty amazed, only approx 2hrs in.
the story so far is on par with most decent movies of this genre.

the bugs have not botherd me so far even when the game froze up and set me back 35mins back to that club you go to so well as you do i made the most out of the situation and had another lapdance

this game from what i can see is not perfect but we can see what bioware was trying to do and to tell you the truth it's pretty groundbreaking and the fact that this is the first part of a trilogy is even better as the the story is with out a doubt amazing. through out the ages of gaming there have been games/companys that have had to take risks to move a genre along and putting aside the bugs bioware have made a breakthrough.

I would never say i'm a pro gamer like some state lol but i have been playing since space invaders and my first computer the spectrum 48k and now at 37 i'm still loving every minute, games are evolving all the time and it's great to see a fantastic company like bioware try to mix it up abit.

well my last nightshift tonight then four days off woot!!!! :D:D:D
