*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

Is this game using the Unreal 3 engine? It looks like it, the shadows look the same on the characters faces as in GoW, and there's the texture issue where they don't load straight away.
Yep, it gives the game away. It is the unreal 3 engine. Amazing what they've done with it when you realised that Bioshock also featured the same engine.

I'm ill so can't play much. I'm only Lv7 atm with my nooblet default John Shepard :(

!? You've had it ages though! Level 14 here (only played one or two nights) although I do tend to finish every single thing I can off before moving on, that's probably why I'm such a high level. Spent 15hrs so far exploring every NPC conversation and side quest I can.

I think I'm going to roll a Vanguard and play it a bit less goody-two-shoed. I find with infiltrator by the time I've aimed at someone's head they've all ran over to me anyway.

well got mine today but not the LE  nevermind any way only got chance to boot it up and mess about really a few conversations and a little combat but well i'm very very impressed i have put aside the glitches mentioned here and in reviews as far as i can see it's fantastic..... but i'm again at work on nights (stupid helpdesks) so can't play till i get up tomoz :(

Yeah, the first day I got it I ended up playing assassins creed because I wanted that finished. Now that I've caught a cold again I can't play for long periods :/

Got to get off this sodding ship and into the Normandy for crying out loud lol.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the same. The Infiltrator seemed to be quite fun but you can only get a shot or two off with the sniper rifle before you have to whip the pistol out, which seems pointless to me, so I am going to roll another character too, probably a Vanguard.

Definitely finish all the mini quests first! And don't come back (even if you're told to) until you have 6+ charisma/intimidate! I made that mistake today and got made a mockery of :p

vanguard to me seemed a good balance plus i'm trying to keep it realistic when it comes to conversations ie stay proffesional but if a situation needs me to be rough then so be it lol

please don't flame me down lol but as only really booted it up and had a look... well you get the intro bit then you mtalk to the commander then your sent on a mission to erm locate a beacon if i remember right i take it this encounter is the training bit ie you need to follow this route as i did look at the map thing on the ship but could not access it as it stated i needed to be a commander

hope i'm making sense lol

You are, and i noticed that too. But it's because you aren't in charge. I'm pretty sure it won't be long before you get more choice over what it is you are exploring. :p

Sounds good to me then i'm sure it will click into place just can't wait to get home in the morning lol 37 years old shame on me :P

yeah i'll be sticking with vanguard btw i'm stuck at work so thanks for making a post it gives my slow night a boost :)

Damn I was really hoping to avoid spending more money on games, but this thread has made me want this game :(

Very addictive game. Ive put 15 hours into it already! Level 34 Soldier.

I get up to have a break, then sit right back down again and start playing again.

If you liked Kotor, you'll love this!

I've played it since i got it at 4pm. It's now 2am, and i just finished watching Xmen 2. Point is, I had to take a break, I would have been gutted if i finished it too quickly :p

This game is so addictive! You just want to carry on just that little bit more so you play for a while longer but then you have to play 'just that little bit more' again :p

I rerolled a Vanguard and they are pretty good fun.
