Whos ditching 8800 GT for new rev GTS?

Yea hardly seems worth even overclocking these going to test this card at stock bet it's still 30 fps average on the benchmmark.

Over 3fps is good isn't it? more than 10% depending on what you were getting.

The important framerate is the minimum though. If 3fps increases from 18 to 21 say then worth overclocking.

Also I have found same as you that I can clock my BFG 8800GT higher without ATI Tool installed.

Did a succesful 3 part gpu test last night on Crysis at 750/1858/1982 so I may have been too early blaming BFG for my poor overclocking card.

ive just bought a brand new ultra for £278.00 delivered.

Couldn't resist @ such a good price!

Thats not a good price anymore with the GT around, you should have at least waited for the GTS.

The Ultra certainly does not have £100 worth of extra performance, proberbly about £40-£50 at the max.

What was you overclock with and without ATi Tool installed?

You always win easyrider have you any stories of how you you lost out or messed up big time ?

I just bought two 4 gig mini SD cards at auction and they turned out to be dodgy counterfeit ones!

On a PC hardware front I have been very lucky with my upgrades.

The heat is off this GT shuffle though as it didn't cost 300+

Enjoy! :)

I saw someone buy an Ultra for about £470 odd last week (in a computer store) I felt like having a word with him but he looked quite rich lol! :p

At the price you paid I would say its not an easy one to resist, I did get a similar offer myself but having already used an 8800GT I had the strength to pass up the offer!

Wonder how the new 8800GTs will compare vs the Ultra though?

Now get Crysis installed and post some benchies up here please! ( not had any Ultra results in yet )

How come there isn't much talk on the GX2 cards? Are these even coming at all? I'm starting to get annoyed my GTX slowness at 2560x1600 and want to replace it sooner rather than later.

Yea what is going on here fails ati tool artifact checker but passes crysis bench if you uninstall ati tool hope someone gets to bottom of this
what do you think is more reliable the crysis pass or ati tool ?or a conflict with ati tool and rivatuner somehow surely if it's passing crysis benchmark and hours of gaming the clock is stable?

If you can play Crisis for a few hours without crashing I would say the clock is solid.

I not so sure about ATITool, it simply doesn't get the card hot enough. The hottest load I've seen is the Ozone3d benchmark, followed by Crysis and looped 3dmark06. ATiTool is quite a few degrees lower. Just indicates that not all of the card is being loaded. You'll literally see in game when an overclock is too high, I mean its not like a cpu where the errors are hidden.

Ive been pondering a lot over my system for the past couple days and I'm now thinking of getting rid of both of my Gigabyte 8800GTs.

Honestly, I can't afford a nice big monitor to really benefit from SLI what with the other upgrades I'm doing so I might as well get shut of them both and get a new GTS (assuming that they're gonna be faster than the GT).

Your thoughts?

It'd mean a change from my current system to:
Q6600
4GB PC8500 RAM (OCZ/Giel)
A Motherboard (not sure what yet)
1 new rev 8800GTS
My exisiting native 1280x1024 display
Overclocked

If I made the switch to SLI then I'd need a new motherboard and perhaps one of those ridiculous enermax galaxy power supplies, not to mention another GTX as well. That's pretty expensive and I've had problems with SLI in the past.

Cards I'll consider now are the 3870X2/8950GX2 or whatever it's going to be called and of course the 9800 series.

(assuming that they're gonna be faster than the GT).

Just been poking around some hardware reviews and they don't look that much faster. Not worth swapping out if there's a considerable price increase over the GT. Certainly not at my gaming resolution.

I've been using a 24" lcd @ 1920X1200 for nearly two and a half years, no going back.

Your really missing the 'big picture' mate, sell one of your 8800GT's and get yourself a decent monitor, seriously you will come and thank me afterwards!

But then I'd want SLI :p
Grrrr I don't know what to do. Yes could sell 1 GT and my current monitor and get a nice BIIIIG display but then I'd up the res and say "wish i had SLI"
Re my last post, think that was the G80, so I dunno lol.
