I conceed... I need help choosing..

Its really hard to advise a car for you when you mention that it has to be reasonable to insure because insurance can vary massively from one person to the next.

There was a thread a little while back about everyones insurance premiums and I remember being gob smacked at some of the prices people were paying... like for example a 24 year old with 4 years ncb paying over a grand on a 1.1 Fiesta.

Your best bet is to just look on piston heads and write down a list of all possible cars you could buy and get test quotes for them all on a website like elephant.co.uk.

Tempted to pop over to Brindley Honda next week whilst im off, ask to T/Drive a type S, I think they have a couple..

Only problem is it looks like the list price is around 7k -Ish theres a nice 05 one in Black

Why not a type R? or is there a great deal more in insurance between the two?

my two pennies... focus tdci remapped to 145bhp... 48 mpg.. and very cheap insurance, and a really good car...

Sorry for slightly off topic but wasnt new thread worthy, do remaps effect insurance premiums? And if you bent the car and it was discovered you hadnt admitted to the 'mod' then the company wouldnt pay up?

I also find myself being tempted by the 1.6 Clio, theres a really nice black one with a lot more gubbins than even my Mini has for £6,000..

How do the older shape Clios rate with reliability, because i've always been under the pre-conseption that French = bad...

other than the dodgy bonnet catch, i've not heard anything bad about them

that said, i don't hear much about anything

Ok, i've made a shortlist for so far..

Top of the shop is a VW Golf FSI..
Honda Civic S (The one just pre the new shape)
Renault Clio (Perhaps the 1.6 Petrol, or 1.7 Diesel - As much as I would like a 1 7/8 2I cant insure them yet sadly.

As for the Skodas, again I dont think im gonna be able to insure them.

Focus.. im not to keen on the design to be honest, same goes with all fords..

You've got to be joking? There are few things more daft than your purchase of the £10k Mini One but a Golf FSI has to be a good candidate for topping it. Slow, staid, dull, designed for housewives to go shopping.

What else then folks, im still after suggestions..
