~~~~~Need for SPeed Pro Street non official thread~~~~~
The game is pretty crap imho. Starting a race requires you to wade through a pointless array of modes, settings and other time wasting nonsense. I mean, all of it leads to essentially the same thing ... a god damned race!!! Why waste peoples time by including lots of mind numbing garbage before each race? Sure, there are diffferent types of races but they've all been pretty much the same since NFS: Underground save a few silly tagged on features like the tyre burning before each drag race. :rolleyes:
Worst still, the graphics are nothing special and seem to be using the same engine as previous games. Seriously, don't bother with this and get NFS: Most Wanted, it's by far the best in the "new generation" of NFS games.
Agreed, the game is lame. Not only that, but I get good fps with everything on high (about 60ish or more) yet I still get the lag and the car is all over the road. I think I will remove my Xbox controller and try with keyboard or my steering wheel before I uninstall
It's down to EA and their inability to put proper gamepad support in the game. I got it as well, means I have to calibrate the controller every time I ran the demo.
the programming on this is terrible
it detected the prescence of my joystick and decided to use that as the primary steering device
then of course because it wasnt calibrated it veered off the left.
really stupid programming like that makes it shine out as a very bad console port.
Anyone here that plays it, can they answer me this?
I drive a Chevy Cobalt SS which has 497 BHP and every single time overall (not each heat) I get beat by a dude in a NSX 240 (I think) which only has a BHP of 237.
Why the hell do I lose when I have such a huge BHP advantage? :confused:
what type of race ? anything with corners he'll be carrying much more speed into the corners
plus the fact its need for speed, and they have a feature called catch up. So no matter what the car is, if your pulling too far ahead, the game bumps them back up with you to to make up for their poor AI programming.
Sorry forgot to mention. Drag race.
Does it run ok on XP, Im sure I tried it a few years back with no success.
How well does it scale to new systems (widescreen resolutions and such like)
Ta
Runs no problem on XP for me albeit on occasion it just crashes out for no obvious reason, I don't have a widescreen monitor though so I can't answer that part.
Viper², at a guess (since I don't have the game yet), your car will be far heavier and you might also need to work on your shifts if it is anything like the previous incarnations of the drag race format. That and a whole wodge of luck in where the drone cars are on the track. :)
Without using Xbox controller, I can finally play this game, sort of. The car is more controlable but still get a bit of lag when cornering. Yet the fps dont flinch from around 60. Badly programed, perhaps a patch will fix.
Porsche Unleashed was the best though.
Far, far, far, far above any other NFS game, Porsche Unleashed was the pinnacle of the NFS games. An almost perfect blend of arcade and simulation handling of the car, simulation enough to prove a challenge as the game progressed, but never too steep a learning curve.
Best racing game ever released. I still play it now on my work machine, took me hours to work out how to do the handbrake turn between the cones though.
Was Road Challenge for me, as I loved being a cop and placing the spike strips on the roads, and the tracks were really nice too.
Chevrolet Caprice cop car, drooooooooool
Tried ProStreet and turned it off after a few minutes, absolutely dreadful.
Tried it too. it's kinda pointless. Not as fun as Carbon/most wanted and not as good (simulation wise) as Grand Tourismo or Forza.
Who's this for?
After someone said about the old NFS Porche 2000, I again attempting an install last night. I could never get this working on XP and could only make it work on 98. To my huge suprise, it installed and played without issue on Vista 64bit ult! I am shocked and very pleased with Vista!
:D
