Just completed Deus Ex again

^Actually although I'm a bit of a Glide fanboi (and have used that wrapper in the past), the best option for Deus Ex (and any Unreal-engined games) nowadays is to use updated dlls. You can get great ones here, in DX8 or OGL flavours: http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ . Be sure to check out the Beta page, as a new OGL renderer for Deus Ex was released a couple of months back.

Woah thanks dude, those look really nice. I'll have to give them a whirl when I get home. Sound like they might give new life to some of my old unreal engine games.

Im going to play through it for the 1st time over Christmas-had to leave my desktop at uni, so Im stuck on a 4 year old Dell machine-gives me the chance to play a few games I missed like Deus Ex and The Longest Journey, but is still a pain-are there any other games that people can recommend from that time period that are worth playing? Ive done Baldur's Gate, NN and Half Life.

Freespace 2
Civilization 3 Deluxe
Max Payne
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Need for Speed: Porsche 2000
Command and Conquer: The First Decade
No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M's Way

add X2 (or X3 ) to that list :)
and i would also add Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion

all the above games are highly recomend, u must complete them!

A 4 year old Dell PC will likely struggle to run Oblivion at a playable framerate, I think he's looking for games around 5-8 years old.

"and i would also add Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion"

I was going to say!! Maybe pushing it a bit ;)

Ive heard a lot of good stuff about Mafia, so I may pick that up, although I never really enjoyed the GTA games.

Civ. 3 might be a good one, cheers for that-Ive also downloaded X-Com Terror From the Deep from Steam for $5 so I will give that a go-always hear that it is a bit legendary!

Amazing. I was searching for any word of Deus Ex 3. Deus Ex was an amazing game with a plot to die for. I think that the guy who wrote the plot should start writing some plots for Hollywood movies :)
Deus Ex 2 seemed a more mainstream title. Story wasn't at all that deep and even if it retained some features of the first game, all the people who loved Deus Ex 1 didn't like it much since it wasn't up the standards of the first game. It had some nice visuals though.
Any link where it has some info about DX 3. Hope it's similar with the first game in terms of plot and immersion and me wants to play J.C Denton

With Deus Ex 2 be sure to do some digging around on how to tweak the GFX performance. Sadly they used the Xbox settings on the PC release and it performs atrociously by default. Tweak it a bit and everything dramatically speeds up :)

on todays hardware, its not even a problem lol. but i do remember how bad it used o be. i bought both on steam
