Anyone else have big hands?

I find the 400D so awkward to hold! It almost feels i'm gonna drop it when I hold it, theres a massive part of my hand thats holding air when I hold the 400D.

I asked for the grip for christmas present :)

Anyone else got one?

yeah i have got one - makes a massive improvement on handling - the extra shutter release is brilliant. If you are going for a thrid party pne make sure its got all the exrta buttons on the grip. Get a couple of 2000+ mAh batteries as you find you are not recharging your batteries all the time.

Just curious, did you handle it before you purchased it and compare it too the competition? a lot of people especially those with bigger hands find the d40x from nikon much nicer to handle.

I would like to get a grip at some point because it would make shooting portrait (as in not landscape) much easier. Currently I find it pretty awkward.

I can't justify the cost though.

I've been a Nikon man since the seventies, my dad always liked Canon but with my larger hands Nikon always felt more comfortable.

Now I'm about to move from film to digital, Nikon still fits me better (I have tried the bodies out with and without grips from Canon and Nikon) so I'm just saving the pennies for my D300 with grip and some new glass to start off with.

No the 400D I have is the first DSLR I ever held :) Abit crazy perhaps!

I trusted the loads of good reviews I read and did see some issues about the small grip the 400D has. I'm happy with the menu system of the canon and the results I get. Hopefully this grip will address my only prob with it.

ive also got the battey grip for the 400D, armed with 2 of the canon recharable batterys
it lasts for hours on end continous use now, and does feel much better to hold

BG-E3 here as well for my freaky big hands :) ...

Does add to the weight of the camera as you have 2 x batteries but it is very comfortable now and worth the trade-off IMO.

i got a cheap one of the bay for 20 notes and an extra 7 for batts. not exactly breaking the bank

I have a battery grip with my 400D. It's surprising how much difference it makes actually - much nicer to hold. The weight distribution is a little better too, since it adds a bit to the bottom of the camera, which seems to balance out the front weight from lenses.

Definately worth it!

Had one on my 350D and got one a few months back for the 30D. As mentioned it makes portrait shooting easier, increases shooting life with the extra battery bay and makes the camera feel far better balanced with larger lenses - this is especially noticeable with the smaller 350D and 400D.

I have the 400D & the extra battery grip pack. It does make the camera heavyer to handle. Though the grip and balance is a lot better.
I tend to use the battery grip if I am out locally for the day. On holiday I do not take it as I wish to travel light with my D-SLR and a few lens.
Good choice the Battery Grip, half price at the moment £70 apx

Do you know the name of the seller? I've been looking for one but not having much luck finding any for that sort of price :(

um i can see if i still have the details somewhere for ya. but i know i did hunt around for it at that price.

Rather have the Canon one meself cost a lot more but it worth it & with 2 batteries it last blooming ages without recharging.

I just got the Canon BG-E3 grip today i'm very happy with it. The camera handles and feels much better in my hands. The 400D feels great now! Especially with a long lens the added weight of the grip helps keep your hands steady.

Very happy! :)

I have one on my 350d and its not been off since the day i bought it! Makes the camera feel so much better, especially if you have some heavy glass on the front! Definately a must buy.
