Virgin Media... who else just died?

bah still cant get into this damn modem :(
last ime I checked *** logs were full of errors now it just wont let me in lol.

Ping says: Source Quench Received

ahuh, gonna phone for a new modem xD

Had Virgin for years was great, no problems, yeah they capped it but so what it wasnt that bad. Adsl now and my god give me cable back anyday, 3 meg connection is the most i can get its crippling. Much cheaper but i would take cable back anyday.

Mine was off from about 2200 to 0400 - kicked me off during TF2 last night :/ (Bracknell)

So I actually got an early night's sleep :P After some GH3 tho :D

This is probably the third or fourth time an outage has affected me, not had a problem for a while. Last time I really had a problem with cable was when I was in my 2nd year of uni and we had one of those crappy old ntl modems (that was about 4.5 years ago).

Not with Cable :)

Yes, even with cable. Always has been.

Mine's been disconnecting me a lot lately, I suspect it's my Top Gear torrents they object too as whenever I leave some torrents coming down my modem mysteriously drops the connection after a while and I have to unplug it

Never get this problem at any other time.

Speaking of 4 meg connections of which I am on, when do we get upgraded to something faster? :)

tbh torrents tend to hog the whole network anyway and have so many connections open that everything else suffers, I wouldn't be surprised if hardware couldn't always handle it. Never use torrents for anything now... last time I did was for F.E.A.R Combat (which is free) and you could see the modem's lights flashing for days afterwards because of people trying to connect to me (even though I had cancelled the download on the first day - yes we did check the logs and it was all on my bittorrent port).

Aye the default settings are a nightmare for that, I limit mine to 50 connections and usually find they come down faster as a result. It's also MUCH faster during the day when most people are at work so thats the best time to get torrents.

My broadband went off at about 2125 - at 2300 I gave up, and went to bed.

Not only did the broadband go, On Demand on the TV went too. :(

Same as me pal, none of the telephone numbers were working aswell! Really annoyed because i had work on my e-mail that i needed to work on but was unable to access it

I'm with Virgin/Telewest and was gaming all night last night with no issues what so ever.

Been with them since 2000 had hardly any issues ever, thanks Virgin/Telewest for a great internet service over the years.

Just trying to put across the other side of the argument, as stated before no one ever posts saying they are having no issues. :)

Here's looking forward to the 50MB service.

Went off at about 930pm and went on at 1am. Gave me the chance to watch some music videos, a film and read a computer magazine :p

Yeah there has been a national outage started around 9:30pm last night. Some people's are still down this morning but most back up. I have heard some rumours on another forum why it happened. One theory, is a national hard reset of everything as part of a three strike campaign to kill off modem "clonners"....not sure of the truth in this though. It was not planned maintenance as such and a registered fault by VM.

I personally have had issues with my cable modem for the last couple of days (been fine for like 4 years!) and the connection kept dropping out and only came back after a modem reboot. This continued all day yesterday up until the outage. I was on the brim of phoning tech support @ 25p a minute, so Im kind of glad this outage occured and I hope it has fixed my issues.

Mine went off for half a day. Just got my net back, called customer service, and apparently something is wrong with their satellite.

We lost our cable and on demand from about 10pm till something like 6am, fortunately i was asleep for most of the time :p
