Virgin Media... who else just died?

It's far more reliable than adsl. You actually get the speed you sign up to for a start. Which is a big problem if you live in an older area, as the phone lines and boxes are rubbish.
It's widely documented that the majority of users don't get advertised maximum speeds.

I also went down... went to watch dragons den for 2 hours :D

i have to say they timed it very well...

and my connection has always been brilliant from virgin... 19+mb all the time, this is the first time it has gone down since ive had it (4/5 months)

Im on 20mbit cable and rarely see the max speeds, infact right this very minute im backing up a host servers data, host is down the road from me on a 100mbit connection and im struggling to get 300k's and no one else is accessing the remote server.

Basically in SW england virginmedia = bad word!

Thats adsl not cable. I don't no anyone on virgin who does get with in a few 10's of Kb within the designated speed.

Agreed.

Except a few people on here who complain about 20mb service. But other than that.. spot on.

With low pings and better uptime than a lot of adsl users imo.

Once you've gone cable you'll never look back :)

Lost connection to MSN for about 5 mins, but i was on the phone anyways and am used to my router dying randomly and needing rebooting!

CoD4 was a bit laggy throughout the evening after, so could have been jiggling itself back into "position" but all seems fine today. :)

makes me smile one big outage ( OK not good ) but why **** a service off thats been pretty good for most people

BTW I had whaaaay more trouble with BT ( opps they are a competitor now ) that i have had with VM

Also got disconnected yesterday for about 5 mins, probably just some random reboot of a hub somewhere. But it's very infrequent that I get them, maybe 2 a year or so.

Already posted in the networking section but mine was down for a total of 17 hours ish! 9pm yesterday - 1:30ish pm today, twice in 1 week now it has been down for more than 10 hours.

The service is nothing what it was this time last year.

I got kicked off for an hour, watched Transformers the movie (original). Came back soon after.

Considering I pay a tenner per month for 2Mb, no line rental, no install charge, I am still pretty happy with their service.

I'm on 20mb at home and don't get more than 3-4mb. They've done all the tests but apparently they dunno what's wrong.

There seems to be a few of you having trouble with 20mb. Sounds like a problem and that if they sorted it out. You probably would get 20mb. Rather than an inherent problem with the system and no one gets full speed.

if you don't get it why not downgrade or kick up stink..
