Tiger goes on rampage

Tazer?

according to reuters video as linked on P1. the tiger was not attacking anyone and was infact just approaching the police officers who apparently just bottled it and shot the cat...

yes after they had just watch it sit next to a mauled man the suddenly attack him again then start towards them....

Also a taszer don't got huge range and you only get one or two shots. and it would probably rip the wires out when it flinched.

Extinction is part of nature, we might be the dominant force on earth but we are part of nature, our time might well come too.

Too hell with saving endangered species, move over, it's our time now, we might as well go out with a bang.

nah we're like cockroaches will take a hell of a lot to shift us of this planet entirely, where ever there is one habitable piece of land we'll live, if there's none we'll make, it if we can't, we'll leave.

The tiger actually got special treatment in only being shot when it approached the officers - Imagine if a black man had been mauling someone. He'd have been shot on sight.

How on earth did they bottle it? What exactly would have you done, maybe to try and put a leash around its neck?

well you know after it happened same place last year you would have throuhgt they would know how to deal with them and have a procedure which doesnt involve the bullet...

these arent just some Neanderthalic natives who have just stumbled across an angry tiger, they are trained armed response teams who should be able to deal with a variety of situations given their proximity to a Zoo housing endangered species.. is all...

no their cops of the beet trained to deal with people, generally with words then when that fails bullets, the tiger didn't listen.

Tigers can jump up to 5m in the air and 10m lengthways, a 15ft high wall like someone mentioned is nowhere near enough. They have been known to jump and catch birds flying above them. They are also expert climbers and swimmers. It seems a lot of people under estimate just how incredible a tiger actually is, and this one wasn't even a big one (it was *only* 300lbs, Siberians can grow as large as 800lbs in captivity). They have also been known to attack (not necessarily hunt) full grown Elephants on their own. Before we came along these really were the number 1 animal on the planet.

no no they weren't they would e ripped to shreds by a pack of baboons they are bloody savages.

also a fence that curves inwards is very hard to climb especially when you have no motivation to.

What about Sharks and Crocs? They've been around a lot longer than Tigers and both would easily devastate even the largest of Tiger.

Heh, well I don't think it's fair to make direct comparisons as in who would win a fight betweem them. Each has evolved for a different environment and purpose. I mean you can't possibly compare a shark and a tiger like that surely?

can compare an crocodile though.

Or generalisations about the top animal on earth. How on earth do you know that if you put a crocodile in a ring with a tiger the tiger would be devastated? I'm just waiting for someone to weigh in with their (un)informed opinion on whould would win between an elephant and polar bear.

can compare an crocodile though.

And how exactly would you do that?

not really that's just more cruel for the animal, here the just have a 20ft fence, putting them in a pit is just harsh.

I don't know anything about the cruelty of such things it was just that I was thinking like they did with gorilllas and bears etc. Like I say I don't know anything about these things, and as indicated 15 feet wouldn't be enough :). Something high made of concrete and curved over or inwards I ment.

Not comparing them at all, I'm just pointing out that this statement here...

Before we came along these really were the number 1 animal on the planet.

...is wrong. :)

Although seen as Tigers are very good swimmers it would be interesting to witness one up against a Great White Shark, likewise for a Tiger against a Saltwater Crocodile. No doubt both would be unbelievably fierce and pretty short lasting fights.
