lost my licence

You were inside your first two years m8, you should have been ULTRA cautious after picking up the first three, I know I was; still am, actually!
Good luck anyway.

3 points for going through a red light in leeds town centre

i have to say this is really bad... some very serious accidents happen because of people going through red lights... the police have no choice but to enforce the standard 3 points and fine penalty here because of the seriousness of the offence

i didnt see one when i was last in bristol on an evening. took a turn off from the centre, heading down to the police station, completely oblivious to the buses only / no entry sign!
had a copper behind me, who pulled me over!

never used to be buses only :D

I know where you mean, I've seen people turn the wrong way down there. :)

hey people long time no see well i passed my theory 1st time 49/50 and 61/75 and i passed my driving test as well so watch out am back on the roads ...... oh insurance didnt go up and it probably will next renewal !!!! passed on the 21st

Nice one. Remember you still have those 6 points though! (sorry to put a downer on things!).

If he gets any points at all in the next 2 years, will he have to do another resit, or do they give him a fresh 6 points to play with?

If he gets another 6 points he will end up with a 12+ month driving ban (+ on driving offence) - You only get the revoke once.

Tbh I find it odd you guys in the UK get points for such minor offences.

Here you only get a point for serious offences: Speeding more than 30 kps ( 22 mph ?)
Reckless driving ( endangering others )
Drunk driving
And keeping not enough distance at high speeds ( at lower speeds it's considered a minor offence)

3 points is redo licence.

But for minor stuff like small speeding offences, parking, red lights, driving into a one way street, etc just a money ticket nothing else.

I think they introduced the points system for nearly everything so that rich people would feel the punishment as much as poor people, which is very sensible imo.

Ah so it's introduced to punish people?

Very clever...
If there's one reason why such a system would exist it would imo only be for safety, if it's just to punish people then I'd be willing to bet people would never tolerate such a law and just take action against it or just masively ignore the rules.
