Just tryed Crysis

what is terrible about the ending of crysis, this bugs the **** out of me, the aliens, so what, whats it in other FPS, terrorists or just 'baddies' organising military coup and other irrelivent stuff. for me crysis looks brilliant, the controls are great to use, nano-suit is cool (doesn't make you invunerable), its open ended and not rediculously linear like COD4 where your stopped by a four foot wooden fence (oh no a fence ) the aliens are totally unique as far as aliens go in FPS, flying mechanical octopi shooting you with ice shards, plus they looked FANTASTIC, the ship wasn't a bad level, it was disorientating, creepy and you were left feeling 'whats through this door, whats down there' in a constant feeling of uneasiness and the snow parts were cool as well except for the huge drop in performance, what exactly do all you 'i hate last part of crysis and the ending is crap' people want, sounds like a typical 'safe' FPS too me

on a side note i do agree with the steep system requirements, its killing my 320 GTS, but hopefully patches will fix this, finally stop overanalysing the game, i know it was hyped beyond believe but just enjoy it rather than complain about how you don't like disorientation, or maybe crysis just isn't the game for you?

Well its exactly the same gameplay as FarCry, except the Trigens are now Aliens.

It sucks because it is just FarCry with a gfx mod, so everyone feels ripped of paying full price for the same game that has just had a gfx mod slapped onto it, and a mod that eplaces the trigens with aliens.

Look at all those free mods you can get for the likes of Oblivion, Stalker etc... that enhance the gfx, enemies etc... this that and the other, they dont release those games again in a box with all those mods slapped on em and charge full whack again do they, hell no, you just download the mods of the net.

What they should have done was, just release the enhanced gfx pack and alien mod for FarCry for free download from their site, as everyone has FarCry already, we only needed the mods.

Seems a bug because it happenes here too :). I dont use AF it gives a FPS drop too and I only like using 16xAF nothing lower.
.

Ahhh, okay :D. Was starting to get worried that it's my card again, already had a dud Asus 8800GT, if this Gigabyte 8800GTS would also be borked, I'd probably stay away from the 8800's for ever lol.

COD4 runs crap for me, sure its getting 60+fps a lot of the time dropping to 30 odd sometimes due to this awfull stuttering I have for some reason but crysis is so much less annoying at 25fps than COD4 at 60fps stuttering.

Odd, I've played through it on an 6800GS @ 1280x1024 & medium settings + disabled stuff like specular maps, shadows etc... and it was perfectly smooth, tryed arcade on some of the missions with my 8800GTS and it was smooth as silk maxed.

How can you say that? I can't recall having a nanosuit in Far cry and being able to destroy trees, destroy every hut possible, pick up everything, etc ?
Even if it would be the same, so what? Farcry was perfect.

Well, tbh, if you don't wana pay then just get it in a less legal way ( yes everybody does it anyways), but I have no problem paying for such a beautifull game.

Nothing looks as pretty as crysis, comparing Stalker & Oblivion with Crysis graphics is completly innapropriate, Crysis looks much better and I doubt a mod for farcry would do the same.

Cryengine one would never look this good. Also the Vehicle handling etc is far superior in this game, I doubt a simple mod can change the whole physics.

Anyways, I've played it till the 2nd mission ( just after the first alien appears), and still hooked on it, It's Farcry, but then so much better, I just love blowing everything to pieces from the korean camps to whole forests :D. The graphics are amazing pics don't do it justice it looks a mill times better in motion.

How did you manage to get a job?

You could have a nanosuit if someone made a nanosuit mod for FarCry.:D

How did you manage to get a job?

Quite easily, everyone knows Crapsis is just FarCry with enhanced gfx, and the trigens replaced by aliens, as thats all the bugger is.

FarCry, you **** about on an island killing troops, then later on have to fight Trigens.

What am i missing.

*blah blah blah*

Wow I'm glad your not in charge of bringing new games to the market.
So Crysis, they took what everyone loved about Crysis, and added a load of other cool stuff that adds to the game. But since you don't like it, I suppose we better can it.
What about all these racing games sequels, oh I suppose they are pointless too, despite the better Physics, AI and graphics. Why not release car mod packs for old games instead.

Crysis uses a hugely improved engine over Farcry, the same level off quality could not be copied with a mod. Whilst I can't comment on Oblivion, Stalker certainly has nothing which improves on the original game to the same extent as Crysis does over Farcry.

You don't like Crysis fine, stop constantly whining about it because pretty much everyone else respects it hugely and loves it as a game.

What am i missing.

The superbness of the games, the fun in shooting smart (ai) koreans, the awesome gfx that you stand staring @ for half the game ? :D:p

Replaying Far Cry is not the same, Crysis has a different story, different maps, nicer gfx, bigger interactivity with objects, it all adds to the uniqueness of the game.

Nothing wrong with how the game plays, its FarCry again, so its bound to be a great player, what is crap, is that they are charging full whack again, no point paying £30+ for it if you already have FarCry is there, and where is everyone that loves it, in the big Crysis thread its getting slated to **** for being a buggy pile of cack, way overhyped, and just like FarCry, that thread runs into bloody hundreds of pages, theres bloody loads of ppl dissapointed with it.

CoD4 > Crysis. Stop over complicating it.

In your opinion.

Gameplay and gfx wise Crysis is far better imo, CoD4 is WAY too short and too linear, it's all pre-scripted cinematics and the ai always does the same. Sure it was awesome the first time I played it, but when I fire it up now it's more like: meh.

And ignore the mp as I don't play mp in those 2 games.

Can I ask what you would have added to the game then, to make it worth paying full dollar for?

TBH I think you just have unreal expectations of what humans can achieve. Crysis is far beyond anything else I've ever played (with and without its faults).

Linear? You might have a few ways you can do the level but it's always the same - I can't see how going by boat, car or running isn't linear, you're always going to the same point. If you really want something like that then go play Oblivion or something.

So what you're going to the same point, the thing is the journey, in CoD4 you can't even climb over a low fence in some lvls where it'd be obviously possible in reality, because it happens to be the scripters don't want you to go there.
In Crysis you can go any way you like, wich is what I want.
Sorry but I'm a physics and freeroam junkie, I love interactive & destroyable terrain and I like a bit of freedom of where to go, wich is why I like crysis, and for example why I like Flatout 2 above most other racing games, I just want a game where I can destroy half the world, in CoD4 tehre's just way too little destructable stuff.

EDIT:
I'm also probaby tired of Modern Combat games in Urban area's and secretly wish CoD4 had been WW2 again :(.
I mean I love modern combat in jungles, but not that much in cities.
In cities imo WW2>Modern Combat.

Why in Oblivion, I still have to go and complete the mission in the same place, and they'll always start in the same place. If there was no structure to games everyone would get lost, they wouldn't be able to control the quality and nobody would want to play it.

GTA is quite nice though while it can be unstructured, ahhhhh the hours I've spent pointlessly driving around the countryside listening to K-DST: ''America - A horse with no name'' , that had no structure at all I just enjoyed the drive around SA for hours n hours, sometimes make a mess by making a huge crash on the motorways, ahh good times.

I'm waiting for gf10 before getting Crysis, but judging by the vids/screenies I've seen, it's better looking than CoD4.

CoD4 looks good, but some of the indoor textures are well dodgy. It does a great job of portraying weapon effects and 'warzone' terrain, but go inside a standard building and it's not really better than other FPS from recent years like FEAR.
