Proggy to keep pesky kids off my pc

1. Right click My Computer then click Manage
2. Click on Local Users and Groups
3. Click on Users
4. You should see the Administrator account along with your account.
5. Right click on the Administrator account and set password, set it to anything you want.
6. Ensure there are no other accounts in there (such as Admin / Admin1 / etc. if there are right click and delte them)
7. Right click and disable the Guest account.

Reboot and try and get in like you said - everything should be secured.

I'd be VERY, VERY surprised if, once you've set a strong administrator password, they are able to get round it "just like that" - if so - get your kids to tell Microsoft how they're doing it - because there'll be a few million computer systems around the world running Windows that'll require a pretty urgent security update.

Not if the bios is set to not boot from CD and the bios has a password on it. Yet if they know computers they will just get around it. Unless you put a lock on the side case!

Log on to the account they're using and then press Ctrl-Alt-Del. There should be an option to change password.

Nope, you just tap Ctrl-Alt-Del a couple of times, and you're given the login box again.

Yeah but you just restart the pc and ctrl+alt+del again.

Password the admin account and all is good.

If they can get passed that then Microsoft have a problem. But I doubt they are that stupid.

with a bios password, you have to put that in first before windows starts loading?

Yup , PC will not do anything until you've typed in the correct password.

Either password your BIOS or properly set up the Windows user accounts. It's not flawed, infact it's a very secure system once you password/disable accounts.

id say thats the most complicated method ive seen up to now!

as said after setting a decent admin password they wont be able to get round it. but it seems you have it fixed anyway
