Ju-on: The Grudge.
Ju-on: The Grudge.

Another film that hasn't been mentioned that might be worth a look is:
The Descent - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435625/
Is that the one under some old Eastern Bloc church?
A group of female [standard, not buxom] cave-explorers get trapped and start being stalked by predators that live in the dark way underground. Bloody good it is too!http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0440803/
C4EVA - I wouldn't say 'scary' is the right word to describe Irreversible, but it is a fantastically shocking film.

I can imagine that it's pretty damn terrifying if your a female that travels alone a lot! But yeah for a bloke it's more shocking and disturbing than scary.
Have you seen 'Man Bites Dog (1992)' ?

I just thought Man Bites Dog was a gangster bloodfest.
Indeed. No film has affected me the way that Irreversible did. It really is a hammer-blow to the senses. I saw it once only and it shot up into my top five films... but I'd find it difficult to sit through again.
, everyones different i guess. I seem to have misplaced my irreversible dvd but im not complaining, i never was a very big fan of abstract films but there are exceptions to that rule. I just figured i would buy it to see what all the fuss was aboutIt's similar, forgotten the name of that film though.
Full on blood and guts in todays age simply isn't scary. The Ring and The Grudge I find pretty horendous, due to the tension, uncertainty and sinister plot. You get a real sense of dread and evil with those films.
