Spec me a really really scary film!

Is that the one under some old Eastern Bloc church?

No, it's about pot-holing :) A group of female [standard, not buxom] cave-explorers get trapped and start being stalked by predators that live in the dark way underground. Bloody good it is too!

I can imagine that it's pretty damn terrifying if your a female that travels alone a lot! But yeah for a bloke it's more shocking and disturbing than scary.

Indeed. No film has affected me the way that Irreversible did. It really is a hammer-blow to the senses. I saw it once only and it shot up into my top five films... but I'd find it difficult to sit through again.

Have you seen 'Man Bites Dog (1992)' ?
I have heard that it's even worse
I've got it but have not built up the courage yet to watch it :p
Funny Games is another extremely disturbing film which can really mess with your head!!

I haven't but it was on general release here so it can't be that bad [mmm so was Irreversible, come to think of it]. I just thought Man Bites Dog was a gangster bloodfest.

Funny Games is getting remade in - guess where - the USA :p

I found borat harder to watch than that :p, everyones different i guess. I seem to have misplaced my irreversible dvd but im not complaining, i never was a very big fan of abstract films but there are exceptions to that rule. I just figured i would buy it to see what all the fuss was about

i find gory horror not very scary just yuuky. The grudge scared the crapola outta me though. Didnt really want to go to sleep after it :(

The descent i didnt find that scary unfortunately. Might give Shutter and lls a look up.

Full on blood and guts in todays age simply isn't scary. The Ring and The Grudge I find pretty horendous, due to the tension, uncertainty and sinister plot. You get a real sense of dread and evil with those films.

I have only watched the hollywood remakes. I hear the original versions are also good.

Indeed, blood and guts aren't scary. Subtlety, uncertainty and suggestion are.
