UPS picking up from MS repair centre

Mine's just gone off to UPS this morning. I'm expecting to see it again anytime between 2 weeks and 12 weeks :p
Not too bothered though, bought a replacement so this one will go up for sale once it comes back.

anyone had any problems with the PSU when they've got theirs back?

what if they send me a new console? as i've got an old PSU....

edit. phoned MS. They'll send me a refurb if mine can't be repaired and the refurbs are compatible with the old PSU.

I work for UPS, we will collect from anyone at anytime, a big centre like the MS repair centre will probably have a daily pick up anyway,
if they don't then as soon as they ring or arrange online for the pick up it is collected same day, and 99% of the time delivered by us the next day.
I can assure you that the delay is not with waiting for UPS to pick up the goods from MS.

cool. thanks baxtor. sounds like my box will sit around at the repair centre for a few days then! heh.

ah well....lot's of tv to catch up on *sigh*

Well mines in the hands of UPS I think, the tracker is a bit confusing.

Billing information has been sent to UPS. Check site later for updated shipment status or contact shipper for more details.

Tracking Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Type: Package
Status: Billing Information Received
Shipped To: WATFORD, GB
Shipped/Billed On: 16/01/2008
Service: STANDARD

I don't know which depot it would be sent to from Havant and whether they send to a central hub then onto local depots.
As far as I am aware, there isn't a depot in Watford so it'd either go to one of the London depots or Luton.
The 'Shipped To: WATFORD, GB' status is a bit of a concern because it didn't turn up today.
I know sometimes tracking information takes a while to be fully updated but on the journey to the repair centre the tracking informatiom was live quite quickly.

Baxtor is probably more familiar with the tracker so perhaps Baxtor he can shed some light on this?

well on it's way to havant my box went from:-

ipswich (where i live)
bury st edmunds (nearest ups depot)
tamworth (near birmingham!)
barking (in essex!)
havant

quite a journey! i'd just give ups a ring and see where it's at. chances are it'll be with you later today, or tomorrow. will that make the whole process just under two weeks?

mines at work aparently, il have it back at around 5:30 hopefully it'll work.

so yours took just over a week as you said yours was sent to UPS last Tuesday? on the 6th? that's pretty cool and very encouraging.

i'm sure it'll work ok mate. i've not seen a "MS have sent me back a borked console!" thread for ages. in fact, the last one was probably over a year ago. from what i gather their repair jobs are pretty good now.

let us know how you get on?

I called MS today to find out the score and they told me that with the 'billing' on the tracker, it means that UPS have received the payment from MS and I should get it back in 3 - 4 days (sigh).
Is it really so hard to get these boxes delivered back to customers?
They seem to spend more time in the repair centres warehouse and in dispatch than it takes to repair them.
Mines being traded in for an Elite when it comes back and if it goes wrong again in the first year, the retailer can replace it for me.
I really can't be doing with these shoddy designs and I will certainly sit back and wait to see what happens with the next generation Xbox.
At least I've got my PS3 for gaming for the time being, now, if only there were more quality exclusive titles....

the new xbox's are much better. the elite, premium and arcade are all manufactured with a 65nm cpu which runs cooler and requires less power. as a result they are much more reliable.

i've already decided that if mine goes wrong a second time i'll just replace it outright. i'll still get it repaired, and then keep it as a spare or sell it.

and i certainly won't be put off the next xbox. MS will have learnt from this generation. i'll be getting one when they come out, i won't be able to resist!

the only thing i was worried about was that i had opend it due to it scratching my discs  so the void label was broke.

il update later

Tamworth is the newly opened central hub for UPS, everything now goes through there, and then ideally ;) is shipped out to the local depots.
