Brown announces £800m aid package to ... India? WTF?

I've been a Labour supporter my whole voting life. I'd vote for spongebob squarepants ahead of Gordon Brown and the labour party again.

It would be far easier for the **** to just take all my money from my employer and just give me a bowl of rice as and when he see's fit.

Im in the same boat as you mate. Voted labour since I could vote and now I actually feel ashamed of choosing what I did each time.

Please can someone explain to me the logic in giving out aid to a country that has a bigger GDP than ours? A country that has gained massively from our exporting of jobs to them. Ok, sure there's a lot of poverty in India atm which I do feel bad about, but they're supposed to be an economic success story now - companies like Tata and Infosys should pay for it imo, not the British Taxpayer. That money should be re-invested in the UK economy at a time when we desperately need it i.e. now. We pay a lot of tax in this country to make sure that we don't see the Indian kind of poverty on our streets, they're successful now, they should do the same or if not they shouldn't expect other nations to hide their shame for them.

Got a problem with my OPINION? Cry me a river. I don't appreciate tax payers money being wasted on another country.
Also trying to rip on my user name is utterly pathetic. Failboat for you.

Yes, its the fact you think its wasted when you never know you maybe in the reward area in the long run. So you believe its wasted and even if you did you still may get the reward which tbh i find pathetic.

however if your giving the money as aid expecting something in return, then it's a bribe and illegal, so there should be no return ;)

sheesh if you specific morons feel that bad about the £800m why dont you go to India and use up £800m worth of their resources, would help the forums aswell as yourself ( hopefully you getting severe diarrhea )

No that's just directed at everyone who doesn't share your view and is just childish, and if you want to insult people over the internet please go do it else where.

Depends how you look at it, i scratch your back you scratch mine, is a good way of looking at it, there should be no return expected however if the country recieving aid decided to return the favour than thats up to them ;)

TBH theres 2 ways of looking at this,

"brown a moron" spend it on this country, deciding factor is where to spend it
or
spend it on a big country and have the favour returned which could help us even more

Wow fantastically unbiased way of putting your point across there.

And why do you think India would pay us back?

And how exactly?

I'd much rather this money went to giving the police their 2.5%.

But if we where going to give that aid, it would just quicken the process of them becoming a stronger economy and increase there exports,

So even if we didnt give the aid, they where still getting stronger as a country and economy.

We just acted as a catalyst and hurried that process up, so one way or another we where going to trade with that country more.

So it can be seen as that money was spent just to help our economy out etc.

.

£800m to india
India spend on themselves etc train workforce education etc etc
India stronger able to manufacture etc compete with China
Trade done with England, cheaper products available in England
England cash flow improoves, better supply and demand etc
Indias cash flow improves Englands cash flow improoves, good strong relations remain with a key country.

Something along those lines

Care to explain how a country increasing its exports helps our economy ?

Just means we're sending our money abroad making our imports greater than our exports isn't exactly healthy is it?
