Amy Winehouse - the new Pete Docherty

Agree with james07, anyone watched the ending of extras xmas special? where gervais has a monologue....explains how press go around these people making them feel important etc and how we should all just get on with our own lives...?

Im sure there are people on the world who have done worse than her, but arent in the papers all the time ...

Yeah, I can't believe these people are doing things to their own bodies, how selfish, they're clearly destroying the rest of our lives by sticking a needle in themselves.

At least then she will be out of your papers and you will have to find someone else to gossip about.

If I was anywhere else, I'd say I was shocked by the number of people wishing a horrible death on Ms Winehouse from a narcotics overdose - but Im on the OcUK forums, populated, in part, by some of the most narrow-minded, short-sighted and self-righteous people I have ever encountered, so I'm not shocked at all.

None of us has the faintest idea about how she lives her life except for the sensationalist claptrap spouted by the despicable tabloid press. None of us know what has driven this extrememly talented woman to her addiction but some of you, from your superior moral positions, see fit to wish a horrendous, painful death upon her because, in your eyes, she is a "worthless junkie" who deserves no sympathy or kindness from anyone.

You sicken me.

I think it's sad that she's let her life and addiction take over her life like that and that she's spiralling out of control, she's a very talented singer IMO and could be even better, but unfortunately the media is almost glamorising this by giving it so much attention. I feel sorry for her and the people that care about her. I hope she gets herself sorted - this sort of behaviour is really not cool, especially when you have a lot of people looking at you.

Edit: well said Stan. :)

Hat off to you sir. My sentiments exactly. I have seen the same responses posted in relation to those poor Prostitutes who were all murdered in the Ipswich area.

I still struggle to understand why people follow celebrities like these to every aspect of their personal life...... never understood the omfg he/she getting a divorce, or he/she getting married, or he/she smoked some pot, or wtv..

How do we even find the time to judge these people when we all have our own lives to be getting on with ?? Always made me wonder .

I think it's because most of us have humdrum lives and as a result we wallow in stories of people who do and say things considerably more interesting than we encounter in real life.

The fact that these events are so far removed from anything most of us have any experience of, gives us the right to judge and condemn without fear of criticism.

Great post :)

I believe she has reached rock bottom, with all the money she has, she's probably turned to drugs for relief to her troubles, as many millions throughout the world do. As I said its a real shame.

its not about what the drug is, its the dependancy of the drug you have on it, and how integrated the drug is into your life.

I'm at the end of my Level 2 in Drugs Awareness and I'm going to use that statement next week.
Coming off drugs (except alcohol) is very easy but its all about the lifestyle you lead.
Detox the drug misuser and change the lifestyle and they can stay clean.

Good post Bigstan.
The course I'm on really opens your eyes up and I'm seriously thinking about doing my Level 3.

Do you think that's easy for someone in her position? You can't possibly be saying that someone can just drop their entire life, their career, their friends, their husband in this case, everything they've worked for, and call it easy?
