January Transfer Window

Milan in Cygan swoop

AC Milan are set to make a shock swoop for Villarreal defender Pascal Cygan, according to reports in Italy.

The former Arsenal centre-back has impressed since joining the Spanish club for £2m in August 2006, and Villarreal are said to be demanding £8m for his services. If Cygan were to make the move before the close of the transfer window next week, he would be eligible to face his former club in their upcoming Champions League tie in February.

Both Villarreal and Milan declined to comment, but Cygan is expected to fly to Italy within the next 48 hours to seal a 2-year, €60,000 per week deal

Looks like Chelsea have signed their very own Crouch in the form of 'Argentinian Wonderkid' Franco Di Santo for @£4m and the Anelka train is gathering steam too with Grant reportedly saying he's signed him, that'll put the shivers up the rest of Europe.

Santo is confirmed, I'm quite excited by him and Ivanovic joining, they're 2 real good prospects:)

Link or you're a terrible liar.

The thought of Cygan lining up for the opposition. Love it.

Stole it from f365, no idea if it's real or not! Villareal's player of the season last year I believe. He hasn't done badly since he left, in fact you could argue he has been the most successful player after leaving in the Wenger era.

Well Anelka does have a Champions League winners medal ;), but yeah, you're probably right. Considering our best players suddenly seem to lose all form when they leave, I guess it makes sense that a rubbish one would find his!

Where did this come from?? I can't even see Diarra being discussed or am I being blind?? :p

It was my first post in here since his transfer. Remember that in their wisdom the powers that be have 'banned' threads discussing individual clubs, so where else could I post it?

Sorry, I'll make sure I never mention anything that happened more than 37s ago in future :p

Nah, not compared to the likes of Vieira (won Seria A every season after leaving Arsenal, ignoring the match-fixing, and looks on course to make it 3 in a row) and Anelka (Champions League winner).

Van Bronchorst? (sp)

League and champions league double?

Or had he left Barca by then?

Tottenham target Puyol

Sky Sports News understands that Tottenham want to sign Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol.

Juande Ramos is thought to be keen to strengthen his defence as he continues to reshape his White Hart Lane squad.

It is claimed that Tottenham representatives are in Spain to discuss a move with the Barcelona captain.

Ramos has also been linked with an approach for Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate as he attempts to find an experienced centre-back to bring to North London.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3078916,00.html

Puyol has made 58 appearances for Spain and played in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals.

Tottenham "want" to sign a lot of players, but top class players like Puyol aren't going to be interested in joining them, nor can they afford him.

Poor journalism tbh.

Hutchinson isn't good enough to be frank. Done well for the reserves but has looked slightly out of his depth in the first team. Surprised if that's true seem to have come from nowhere.

On the Woodgate front it seems he doesn't want to leave. Seems Southgate is very unhappy with him at the moment since he's let his fitness levels drop this season (After all the work he put in last) and is spending too much time on the drink. I'm hoping this might give him the kick up the backside and he stays and has a point to prove.
