Using cat 8.1 and the hotfix.
Card overclocked?

To me the foliage is covering the floor covers a multitude of sins ;)

Look at the forest floor and the texture used is actually pretty naff, which is a shame. Really thought I would be able to walk through the forest and half leaves being kicked up, and bugs crawling over my feet ;) hehe

What and then play it at 5fps instead of 10fps? lol

Nice :D Now get that Crysis benchmark + COD4 fps + anything else you fancy :D

Matthew

Crysis causes me problems with that benchmark util, for some reason it launches me into the game instead of launching the test =/. Gonna try running one of the bat files later for the gpu test, just need to get my custom config removed.

The very high settings and dx10 are only available with vista.Win xp is dx9 only.

You can edit a few config file's in Crysis to get very high settings in XP.

A little cut and pasting of a certain config files in the CvarGroups folder and you'll get the Ultra High settings in XP.
Although the ingame menu says it's high, if the crack works it will be Vista's Ultra high setting that gets displayed, using DX9.

Another rip of DX10 ploy tbh.

PC Format page 134 January Issue, not to mention countless google hits :)

Get the Crysis peformance figures up mate, (in game with fraps, not the benchie), I wanna if its worth going for one of these:):p Also, are these cats 8.1 drivers these absoluite latest ones (the ones that replaced the drivers that ati said weren't that good, and so delayed the launch?

Gerard: Any clue which manufacturer does the 6-pin to 8-pin converter in the box then? OCUK doesn't even sell the adapters from what I can see.

Crysis performance is really sketchy at the minute, cat 8.1 is the last official driver and apparently over the weekend thr reviewers got something like 2 or 3 newer revisions to try to increase performance in it.

Right now in the assault level from the start on dx9 1280x1024 everything on high this is what im getting

2008-01-30 14:47:39 - crysis64
Frames: 3256 - Time: 120000ms - Avg: 27.133 - Min: 2 - Max: 61

2008-01-30 14:51:54 - crysis64
Frames: 3466 - Time: 120000ms - Avg: 28.883 - Min: 3 - Max: 41

Not that impressive so far, seems to be a bit of hitching when scoping in which accounts for the low min fps. That being said though im not sure if the disc that comes with the card contains an updated driver so i might try it later and see if anything improves.

Not sure, i remember a post that may have been on this forum showing several retail boxes and one definately included a 6-8 pin converter.

edit: looks like the msi version has it according to this

I know the assault level is a better bench, but can you run the gpu bench for comparison please? (I know it is kinda pointless since the newer driver will be released soon that apparently fixes it, but I would just like to see @ 1280*1024 on high :)

In the css streass test with 8xfsaa 1920x1200) im getting 202 fps, no fsaa its 247

Lost coast test with 4x (same res) got around 150.

had to use the fraps tool to do it. Safe to say that has to be driver related, think i was getting faster with the 2900. :o

I think I was getting mid twenties in game (demo) when I was using the 2900Pro overclocked to 847Mhz core and 1000Mhz memory.

Can't wait to see what the driver team can come up with as they done wonders in under a week on the drivers that were ready for the 23rd of January.

Crysis is the only drawback and there's so many other great titles out there that will see the benefit so it's no biggie. Congrats on the stock 3dmark score  and also on getting one of these bad boys.

Heres a cod4 run on the bog mission. 1920x1200 4xfsaa everything in options as high as it will go insane corpse amount etc.
