You tell them what figure you want to pay, and stick to it, in my case, it was £750 was the max. I know the rep that sells them (obviously not personally, but by previous association) and he always gives me a good deal, so much so now that he never offers me a discount as he knows we will have a good old haggle before i agree to anything
I saved £700 on an XPS 1710 last year by haggling, after it arrived i phoned to return it as i changed my mind and got another £150 off after agreeing to keep it![]()
m1530 arrived this morning. very happy with the product but as i mentioned, after reading this thread, not too happy with the amount i payed for it. just rang dell with the hope of being able to get some money back off them like you did, but for some reason, my initial contact has disappeared, his extension takes me through to someone else. so, spoke to another customer services representative and they were pretty useless.
as soon as i mentioned i would like to return the product as i was unhappy with the price i payed, they were happy to oblige and instantly offered a pick up date which i dont actually want. so then i said that i would be happy to keep the laptop as long as they could give me some compensation and she blankly refused. so what now. i really want to keep the laptop but feel i have lost out slightly. how on earth did you manage to get more money off once you had recieved the product
How do you search for the XPS notebooks on the outlet website?
I can't seem to see an option for them.
I ordered one of these the other day after debating on the M1530 or the Vostro 1500. I was abit ticked off the Vostro had no options for 7,200RPM harddrives.. and that the 8600M GT on the vostro uses DDR2 instead of DDR3 memory.
Went for
XPS M1530
2Ghz
2GB
1400x900 Display
8600M GT
120GB 7,200RPM
Black
£700
Looking forward to it!![]()

Was there any physical damage or lack of accessories? Don't suppose there is anymore where you bought it from?

Yep its known that the XPS M1530 8600M GT uses DDR3.. This was ultimately why I went for the M1530. By the time i've added in the extra cost of a brand new 7,200RPM harddrive, that for some strange reason the option is missed out on the vostro. It would have cost me about £100 extra if I bought the Vostro 1500. After finding out that I thought sod it, might aswell get the +25% performance boost of DDR3, and theres more scope for overclocking to be had too![]()
Yeah I get some hiss on the headphones on my 1330 too, although it's significantly less noticeable on the middle socket; the first one (on the left) is terrible.
And yes, the 10% code is gone now unfortunately. Whether or not they'll do some other sort of offer this week, I don't know. Find out soon enough though.![]()
