The PlayStation 'HOME' Information Thread!

I've never seen anyone say the Wii avatars are gimmicky and I've seen most PS3 users point it out when a motion sensor use is gimmicky.
...And just because you'd only buy a PS3 for the home theatre capabilities doesn't say a lot about the game titles currently available... Unless your opinion is somehow regarded as fact.

Booyah!

New screenshots of the latest build, and possibly new information, but I'm not Japanese so wouldn't know.

Lots more on the site.

Yeah, I think it looks ace. Very nice and clean without useless clutter (you have complete control over the clutter and items in your apartment). As far as virtual social venues go, Home doesn't seem like it will be beat. It reminds me of the Sims and Habbo Hotel from ages ago.

You can see it in action here. (720p as well)

whilst it looks fantastic graphically, i just cant see myself using it. id much rather just use the XMB to select a mate and go in game with him than walk to his "house" and invite him that way.

The cynic in me has always said that I will not buy any microtransactions for Home. But the new layout does look impressive and I can see myself pimping up my pad a bit (even though I can see myself only using the actual Home environment, secondary to in game XMB etc).
Subliminal Advertising IMO

looking good - just love the expanding world type scenario's

"Sony has also sent out Home Developer Kits for partners to build assets and lobbies, this means both traditional game developers and mainstream brands will become part of the Home world over time."

exciting times ahead

Indeed sounds really good :)

Although i hope you get a decent selection of stuff to choose and not everything a Micro transaction for your home.

So much potential, but it should have been a part of the PS3 when the PS3 launched.

should have been i agree but as long as they get it right after all its their 1st attempt at something this big and its going up against some stiff competition so they do want it to come out alright in the end and become something to offer as an alternative i suppose. Anyway gives us something else to look forward to.

Sony should have had everything on the PS3 software wise developed in the West, especially the online and other features because the West are so far ahead.
Games would also have been easier to develop for as the consoles architecture would have been targetted in a different way.

We'll get there in the end, but everything seems to be arriving later than it should be on the PS3. I do think it looks excellent though.

SCEA actually did produce a far superior online service, but SCEJ rejected them. There has never been very good communication between SCEA and SCEJ. Kaz Hirai has only recently started improving relations across the Sony international development scene. It's just staunch jingoism on the Japanese's side of things.

I understand agree with you partially, but the risk with your idea (especially being so late to market as Sony where with the original console) that it could have ended up being an MS console with a Sony badge - and that wouldnt have done S any good at all
