Many thanks,

Someone at my work has his Ibiza repaired at Rye Street Coachworks in Bishops Stortford, and they seemed to do a good job but I don't know how much they charged as it was an insurance job and I think they were a little bit slow as well.

Theres also Ryder coachwords, but I don't know anything about them except they look quite big and theres always loads of cars there.

It will almost certainly be cheaper to get this work done through your insurance company. This way you can have Honda do the work, as well.

I would go this route also

Won't be of any help WRT bodyshops but sorry to hear about this :(

Maybe worth doing it through insurance if bodyshops are too expensive....I have a feeling the deer may have nudged your gearbox slightly and caused some damage too should it go insurance way :p

Will almost certainly be going through insurance I think. I'll lose my ncb and will have to pay £725 excess as well :(

Nearest Honda dealer is in Harlow so might look at them, that Rye Street Coachworks has been mentioned by a couple of people I've spoken to.

Not too sure what to do really, local body shop or Honda dealer? Any advantage of using one over the other?

I just feel sick at the moment to be honest, was on the way to work but can't do that now and have lost tonights earnings (contractor).

Thanks guys,

Neil.

Crap. Got any pics?

If it was me, I'd change what needs changing (ie the radiator) and secure or remove any loose bodywork so you have it in a drivable state.

Then get it home and do a proper assessment on it.

Nothing worse than pranging it miles from home, it's a right pain in the arse. This is what my mate did with his Sierra (bonnet/wing/light/bumper/rad) - he just swapped the rad and bent it back into some semblance of shape and drove it home where it was much easier to source bits and get the work done.

EDIT if you need it recovering there is a guy both myself and IainB from here have used in the past who is very reasonable, only cost me around £110 to get my 205 from South Wales to Leicester.

Damn, sorry to hear that mate :(

Seems like its Honda game hunting season atm, me with the pheasent, you with this, wonder what Tim or Drexel are gonna do to top it? :(

Unlucky :( Have you got any pics yet?

Have you thought about sourcing the parts yourself then getting a bodyshop to spray after fitting?

Assuming there is no chassis damage, that should be relatively simple to do

Cheers Lopez, will keep that in mind.

Just went out with a torch to have a better look, one of the engine mounts looks like it has seperated from the chassis leg? And the wing has been pushed back quite a bit.

I've just spoken to Bell, the car will be going to Honda in Harlow.

Neil.

Ring Honda and tell them you really want them to do the work for you but your insurance company will only provide you a courtesy car if you use their approved repairer (This is I believe the case with most insurers - check yours). Tell them that if they can arrange you a courtesy car for free, outside of the terms of your insurance, you'll make sure they get the work.

I did this and got a BMW 320i with 7 miles on the clock for 4-6 weeks instead of the Group 1 Corsa I would have got had I used the 'Approved Repairer'.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I speak to them tomorrow :)

Just had a bloke out to recover it to the Honda garage in Harlow, it was too low to fit on the ramp, another low loader is coming in a bit.

From looking in the light, the chassis leg is bent and the power steering is making all sorts of noises :o

He said it could easily price up to near 4K because of the labour + jig work :(
I'd rather they wrote it off than have something back that's been bent :( :(

Neil.

Eeeek, sorry to hear that, Neil :(

Like you said, if the damage is that much, then it might not be the same. When I had my accident, the damage looked this bad:

But the actual structural damage was almost non-existant! So, it may be OK, I was lucky and mine hasn't changed any geometry at all, and it still drives just as well as it did before :)
