URGENT - Body repair shop in Bishops Stortford/Stansted Area

I'd rather they wrote it off than have something back that's been bent :( :(

This is the most ridiculous attitude people have - once its fixed its as good as new and better than it was before, especially if its been done properly. You'll never get the payout you need for another minter, repair is the best possible option.

Damn, sorry to hear that mate :(

Seems like its Honda game hunting season atm, me with the pheasent, you with this, wonder what Tim or Drexel are gonna do to top it? :(

I'm really glad you didn't mention me there, I can relax on the way home :D

Unlucky Neil, didn't you have some work done to it recently? I remember you have the paintwork corrected. I hope it comes back as it left you anyway, I know how you feel about getting back a car after a crash. It's all in the head though I think. Just make sure they check over the car as well as the obvious bits. don't want any belts going after you get it back.

Not always, when a car has been hit nothing is ever the same again, went with a friend who was looking at a Merc, from the outside it looked mint, but on the inside you could tell it had been hit due to creases in the metal. The car drove fine but his excuse for selling was "I don't want it any more" my friend thankfully walked away.

Personally I prefer the option of buying a car damaged (strange I know) because I think the chances of a person intending to sell when they have an accident is slimmer, therefore less likely to have anything wrong with it, do the repairs and it's a goodun (was the case with my car). Mum bought her car second hand and it's constantly having electrical problems (Merc) and problems with the rear suspension.

EDIT: Sorry for the thread hi-jack.

Neil, really sorry to hear about that, such a nice car as well, bloody deers! hope you get it all sorted ASAP :)

If its been repaired properly, it's exactly the same as it ever was. You might be able to tell from looking on the inside of panels that one is newer than rest but the practical effect of this is zero.

A high percentage of brand new cars have damage repaired on them before they are ever sold. Your Saab for example may have had replacement panels and paintwork before it was even registered...

That's true for cosmetic damage, but if it needs re-jigging then the repairs are never going to be as perfect as the original cast. This is the same with my old 206, it never felt the same afterward and it won't be as durable in the event of another collision in that same area.

Phew. Thought it had aftermarket wheels, huge exhuast, spoon socks and the like :p

You should be ok, touch wood :)
Everything else such as the exhaust was declared.
Like you say fingers crossed.

Neil.

I agree, things will never be like the factory, no matter how well it is done.
Especially if the engine mount has been torn out.

Car in the factory will only have paint imperfections or small dents sorted. New doors and big damage will simply result in the car being scrapped off before the rest of the parts are fitted. This was the case in Toyota anyway.

Sorry to hear about it Neil, I really like your teg :(

If you get in a pickle trying to get a stock airbox if you decide to swap it over, give me a shout, i've got mine sitting here doing nothing a the moment that you could use temporarily :)
