Yup, we got invited to a dinner, end of a medical convention, it was the works, wonderful food, wine never seemed to stop. Got up around 10:30 not very well for wear, had to get back as we has friends coming over for lunch. Lots of coffee got in car and away, there was this bit where it opened up into four or five lanes and I just put my foot down when someone tried to overtake. Nice memory, a bit frightening but a moment of youthful madness not to recommended.
 
i had a little original 16v clio that i was driving between kilrea and portglenone in the rain.
there was a long straight with an off camber lefthand bend at the end. i sailed past a car on the straight and headed towards the corner a little fast, which combined with some rainwater running across the bend caused me to aquaplane.

i did that whole twirl the wheel one way, over correct, twirl the other way, over correct and ended up spinning the car 180 degrees facing the way i came. i managed not to hit anything (grassy banks and trees both sides of road) and also was really lucky nothing was coming the other way. the car i had just passed then stopped to see if i was ok, which thankfully i was.

after that i had the utmost respect for short wheelbase, 140bhp and wet roads with corners......

A428 is currently even better: fairly straight, level, and almost never any coppers/cameras about. For the moment at least. Just don't try it on the new Papworth bypass as the police lurk in a farm track off the northern section. But the A428 was where I tried to find the top speed of my car. Didn't manage though - came up on an unidentified car so had to slow down.

I haven't suspended either of you because I'd have had to do the other, so you'll both have to be happy with that. Just leave each other be now.

Borrowing my sisters Nova & pulling out the speedo cable so she did not notice the increased mileage - nearly stacked it a few times, erm, couldn't tell how fast I was going! :o

Flat out in my old XR3i the wrong way around the A15 near Lincoln.:o

Driving my Mums XR2 on Mothers Day & subsequently crashing it - without a license.:o

Dumping 25 tonnes of timber over a roundabout - I'd forgotten to secure the load. :o

Many many more incidents. :o

The way he described it, he may well of meant there was literally feet/inches as he says in one of his first post's.

But apologies for messing up the thread. I honestly didn't mean to cause the upset it clearly has :(

I've enjoyed this thread loads as i thought i was the only stupid ***** here. It is quite clear to me now that this Forum is Full of stupid ***** like me :p:p
 
I once had to dodge a Xmas tree that fell off the Volvo in front of me in the fast lane, thought I was going to get impaled, nearly crapped my pants!
 
I was doing 50 in a 30 and was heading towards a raise in the road (enough so that I couldn't see what was on the other side of the road). Turns out to be a police car. He blasts his horn at me, sticks the blues on. Luckily for me he didn't get much chance to turn round so I just carried on and got home asap.
